Destiny Players With 1K+ Hours - Thank You!!!

I'll try not be too long winded but I do have something to say if you decide to hear me out. - Since Beta I've logged around 1300+ hours into Destiny - Since Beta I've always played Hunters, still do and no I don't feel like I've missed anything. - I've completed every raid on every difficulty within the day or two of them coming out and then on every character every week after. - I help Sherpa my other clan mates as well as other clans we play with - I also go onto LFG sites to help others complete the raids, many of which become clan members afterwards - I've completed almost every Nightfall and thousands of strikes (I'm sure there's a week or 2 that I was out of town on business travel). - I've went Flawless on every character every weekend Trials has been out. - I've competed in every Iron Banner to rank 5 every time it's out - I've started a clan that at one point had almost 50+ members. I've always had someone on to play with, PVE or PVP (it's now a challenge). - I've seen my online Friends List grow from zero to 175+ - Destiny was my first online gaming venture (for 10 years before that I was on Xbox) - I've defended this game and truly enjoyed this game through all the constant shit decisions from Bungie. I didn't want to sound self centered or "hey look what I've done" but I didn't want to layout a robust foundation on which my options and observations are based on. I was a level 30 early on, same goes for 32 and 34. But now I'm capped at 317.75. The grind to get that high was unreal, it's been a beating and here's why: 1. PVE endgame rewards are absolutely shit! Having gear drop at a variable light level is flat out annoying! I would rather get shards then one more weapon or piece of armor at 310/311 on hard mode! 2. PVP rewards are way more consistent and better! Not everyone can run flawless, but the only positive is it provides high level weapons for infusion. But for armor and everything else you're totally dependent on raid drops. 3. Each week there's a mass exodus from Destiny! I have around 200+ people on my Friends List. Everyday I'd log on I'd have anywhere between 6-12 pages of friends on Destiny. Now I'm lucky if I have ¾ of 1 page online playing Destiny. Reason #1 was a huge contributor to this! 4. HoW Prison of Elders and Trials killed 6 member fire teams! Changing the Fireteam requirements to 3 instead of 6 fractured so many clans and solid raid groups! Members had to form smaller core groups for PVE and now PVP. Kings Fall brought back that 6 man element but many were short handed due to the new normal HoW brought with it. 5. Bungie has been so consistent to nerf or remove anything that has benefitted the player...EVERYTIME! - Vex - Auto Rifles - Loot Caves/Loot drops - Raid bugs/exploits (every raid so far has had multiple) - Queen's Armor - Nightfall Rewards - Xûr - Heavy ammo bugs - Removing almost all of the Shoot the Loot benefits - Heavy Ammo Drought - Fusion Rifles - Let's not forget Crucible stayed unbalanced for 8-9 months...Thorn/TLW/Hawkmoon/Shot Guns/Final Round Snipers - Hand Cannons - Gjallahorn - Rocket Tracking - Rocket Proximity Detonation - Nerf and all out removal of Ice Breaker from the game - Nerf and all out removal of G-Horn from the game - Constant loot rate decreases (all game modes) - Absolute SHIT Nightfall Drops after TTK launch - Immediate nerf to 3 of Coins - Secondary nerf to 3 of Coins - Reduction and post light level correction of Black Spindle after the fact. This was the dumbest shit I've seen in a long time, you -blam!-ed up Bungie! You should have said "our bad" and you earned those 310 drops... - Absolutely horrible or non-existent Iron Banner 2.0 drops/rewards - Horrible Hard Mode raid drops... I shouldn't need to explain... - An always apparent disconnect between Bungie and their players. They say they're listening but like my grandfather their hearing is very selective! I'm sure there is a ton more that can be added to this list! The point is Bungie is so quick to remove anything that makes this game less of a "grind" or truly benefits the player. This community isn't as toxic as you think, I've seen some pretty amazing feedback and player input! If they spent even part of their time actually engaging their player base instead of patronizing the media they might be in a better place right now. So myself like so many others are moving on from this point. I've more than gotten my monies worth but I saw so much potential in what this game could truly be and mean to so many others. I don't care if this post gets viewed by 10 people or 10,000. I just wanted to share my thoughts, and whether your's are similar or different I'm glad I got to share a few moments of pure joy in this game with you! Check it out here: http://www.wastedondestiny.com Edit: Thanks for all the support guardians and many of you have come to the same realization that have over time. Several of us have been here since Beta/Alpha as well which is an amazing feat in it's own right! I wish Bungie would bring back the Community Focus to people like us, people who have been here from the start and who have invested a great amount of time and feedback into the game!

  • Wow all that and only a 317.75 light huh? You must be doing something wrong. I probably played 500 or so less hours and am 317. What you doing wrong bro?

    • From day one and 1696 hours in I can't do anything else but sadly agree with every single word you said. In addition to that is that the massive changes have led to a hollow game with not a single "must have" gun/item in it. I personally think that the chase for Gjallarhorn/Fatebringer/Blackhammer was what made the game exciting. I do agree that the old reward system sometimes was unfair and all that but even though I personally was fairly lucky with my drops I still kept going to try and help my clanmates who weren't as lucky as I was. I'll never forget my first Gjallarhorn or Fatebringer drop and that was combined with a completion of a raid which from that moment became very special. The problem now is that even if the raid drops are still pure RNG, most of the drops are worthless. The only thing you are hoping for is drops for infusion. And the infusion are for average gear. They have now because of this pretty much made it impossible to get a perfect PvP armour set and since they changed the algorithm for level buffs/penalties in Trials and IB, they force you to use whatever crappy gear you have to reach as high of a light level as possible. Another problem with PvP are the new subclasses. They say that they are aiming for balance and how they try to accomplish this is to nerf the old favorites to oblivion and then add a new subclass that pretty much breaks 6 v 6 pvp. Like that makes sense.....??? As much as I love the game I'm sad to see the steap decline in clan mates playing the game. If they don't do something quick I'm afraid they will lose them for ever.

      • I can't come near 1,300 hours while holding a job an all. But I have over 350 hours in crucible. So I'd say around 600 total.

I do agree with most of what you have said. I'm not ready to give up yet though. I found that a good solid Destiny break does a guardian real good every few months lol I'll probably take a month or so off, come back in January, after I've played the new seasonal titles I'm interested in. I will say, whatever drove me to raid every day, and grind, and collect everything... It's gone now. I don't feel that drive. I haven't done the nightfall or even visited xur in weeks. My passion is dying and I'm not sure why. I loved The Taken King when it first dropped. For a solid month I was all about it. I still think the raid is fantastic, the new story was great, and some of the new exotics are amazing (swords, touch of malice, zhalo etc). But the magic seems to be gone. Edit: the site isn't working but I think I've done about 800 to 1000 hours. I've never deleted a character.

1067. This game is boring, but you know what isn't? Helping new players complete new (for them) content. I don't have time or the energy to play 3 characters and chase an endless grind. I enjoy being a sherpa much more than worry about the endless grind because of how the new players react to you. They are very nice and thankful. It's almost like playing the game for the first time, but with them. I've been here since Alpha/Beta, and have played this game to death. I've seen everything this game has to offer, and met people I would never have met before. This has been and will be a great experience, despite Bungie's continued attacks upon the playerbase. I also used to have you on my friends list on psn. Necrohealer was my ID.

        • I have maybe a week worth of gametime. The only thing I notice is the retarded nerd on Hawkmoon. Which in my opinion should be a OHKO considering the Conspiracy Theory can kill you in one shot from the hawkmoon effective range. Just doesn't make sense to me.

          • 1694 hours I've played and I 100% agree with you! Bungie, it was fun but trying to make it harder by removing guns that were amazing in the first place is cruel. This game made me spend so much time than any other game I've ever played and to have all my achievements nerfed when the TTK came out was out right disrespectful. I had hope that the new exotics would help, but wow another spit in my, and others face...soon to be followed by chasing a light level which mind you will more than likely change when a new dlc comes into play. At least the curse is broken and I can now play other games.

            • I can at least agree pve is crap, it's not rewarding at all. If you want max light level do the real end game, Iron Banner and ToO, pve in this game isn't lasting 9 more years.

            • Why do people have over 100 deleted characters? Seriously?! I literally deleted my Titan, after I realised I made a female character....day 1. After maining a Titan forever...I attempted to make a hunter and a warlock. Deleted both of them before they were level 12. Made a hunter when The Dark Below came out. Made a warlock when TTK came out. Are the deleted characters....people doing the raid, NF etc each week, getting rewards....put rewards in vault...delete and repeat? Gimme a break...no wonder they got so many hours....no wonder they are burnt out. Whatever...that's just sad. I don't care if I hurt your feelings by saying that. If you are someone who did that....you need your feelings hurt.

2200 or so hours 😄.... But I stopped about 3 weeks ago, as did our Crew. Only do Trials now. Just bring back our 'Blue Flame Hair' 😆 Only 1 deleted Character.

              • I have 1059 hours in according to the site you linked and I recently have kind of stopped playing Destiny mostly. I ran the raid once last night with some friends for fun, but even then I became quickly bored and annoyed with it. I believe they messed up by sandboxing everyone into TTK expansion and making all other content obsolete. Before TTK came out people were playing Crota, VoG, PoE, etc. There was just tons of things to do. It was fun. Now you play the raid each week in hopes to getting to a higher light just to get pooped on by the worthless way RNG works right now. There's just not a lot of content to play. It's boring.

2134 hours, and 115 deleted characters. So.. much.. grinding. With nothing but a headache to show for it. I can't wait to move on to CS:GO.

1054 hours And here I thought I wasted enough time to Destiny compared to others. Glad to know that I haven't been totally sucked into the black hole that is the promise of a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Yes, it seems as though Bungie tweaks the game to remove any amount of fun or beneficiary for the players for the sake of turning it into their vision of how quickly players should progress or how much fun they should actually have. And before anyone says some dumb bullshit like "don't like it, don't play the game" or "some things in coding are harder to fix than others," take a step back and actually think about why people are so angry at Bungie's decisions. I love Destiny as a whole, or at least I loved it more than I do now. The fact of the matter is that Bungie is actively alienating its player base by doing stupid things that the OP mentioned including some things such as nerfing weapon parts. Speaking of people speaking out against the unnecessary weapon parts nerf, remember that one weekly update where DeeJ addressed our outrage? The bastard had the gall to patronize players by mentioning how his boss was down to "only" 2k weapon parts. Really, DeeJ? And if "some bugs/glitches are harder to fix than others", explain to me why the immediate fixes applied to the game are in response to bugs, glitches or just overall general things that are beneficial (if not game-breaking) towards the players and not something to, say, all of the ridiculous glitches in Vault of Glass or Crota's End. The Quiver exploit for Shadowshot is acceptable for immediate resolution. Stuff like nerfing strange coin drops or nerfing Black Spindle from 310 to 290 isn't.
