Edited by dtdionne: 5/18/2018 8:39:08 PMHeartbreaking, but a good article. Life is messy and anyone that claims to have no regrets hasn’t lived long enough or is a fool. I’m sure there are regrets on both sides but he was family. And while no family is close to perfect when they start abandoning or being abandon for any reason, something has gone terribly wrong. In my professional experience, which is messy and littered with regret, when things have gotten that sideways it’s always included a smooth talkin new comer who’s only real skills are politics. Their skill at sowing doubt, causing second guessing and turing family against each other is simply horrifying. It’s happened twice in my career and in each instance they tore the family apart...by the time the “parents” realized, it was too late. It was a lose/lose/lose and simply heartbreaking. I’m not saying this happened here, but it certainly has some of the tell tale signs. I’m sorry it happened and that anyone was hurt. These kinds of wounds aren’t trivial, the aftermath takes years to subside, if at all and the scars are for life.

Necro bump. because the iron bar and your re-boot of destiny before it even launched has been a failure. it almost worked too. you almost pulled your selfs back from the brink. but you made D2 and the problems are glaring, you removed too much from d1 to d2. or you never had the content to build on, because d1 was becoming a great game. and you were still building on the old game.

Bump this. Let it be under Bungie's nose. It should note people about their "care" for the project.

Great read. I wonder how Jason Jones feels about Destiny 2's linear story. The nature of Destiny's campaign always confused me, because a story can't properly unfold randomly. If you're insisting on keeping the player in the dark about where to go next, they're constantly concerned they might have missed important details. Unfolding story lines REQUIRE linear telling. I appreciate Jones' originality, but it just doesn't work... I would have LOVED to see what Staten and his crew came up with for this franchise. So tragic what happened - to Marty, too...

Necro bump yet again... because I can.

28 RepliesEdited by The 7th fall: 10/22/2015 12:07:59 AMAll I have to say is... what the hell were the dumbsh*ts thinking by scraping a potentially great storyline for the garbage that we got now?! It's not like Joe just farted out a story, he meticulously wrote and plotted the story, had the cinematics, and the full plot right down to the last detail up front and center... and they just shut him down basically saying 'too detail oriented'. Well no duh it's supposed to be you idiots, that is why it's called a story!!! It also makes sense that Rasputin controlled the Exo from that picture because he's a Warmind, not some Russian goof in a machine listening to the same ballet track over and over... and Oryx coming for us just to take revenge for his quite frankly stupid son??? If every King did that there wouldn't be any royalty, what a lame a** reason to bring Oryx into the story. If High Moon studios doesn't redeem this story in 2016, I don't know who can. High Moon did the Transformers games and came up with great games, yet here we are with Bungie who's willing to scrap a story because it's too detailed... did they try to do that when HALO first came out?

1 ReplyThe eververse reading company is going to be Bungie's downfall. People have already stated that they're not going to willfully pay for the cosmetic items alone, but more people were also saying that they'd up and leave destiny if the micro transactions stepped outside of the realm of the cosmetic, myself included. I've been preaching this for a year, I just thought it was Activision pulling the strings. The fact that Bungie's own leadership decided to scrap the game three months before it's original release is... well, astounding, really. The year leading up to release made the game feel bigger, more intense, more entertaining. Less like halo, more like a post-apocalyptic MGS without as much stealth. The fact that some of these assholes are still on the team is beyond me. I'm also not sure how I feel about yet another company having a hand in this franchise. If given enough time and enough sway, destiny can stabilize as a solid franchise after its remarkable recovery after TTK dropped, but not if the work load is split between publisher - owned studio and an independently funded studio. It gives Activision too much power. BTW, thank you for the link. I'm going to PM it to you and save it in my notes, so if this post somehow dissappears, we can get it right back up. After this article though, I'm not going to be surprised if Bungie isn't knocked back a little. I wonder what our fuck boy community manager is going to say about this.

1 ReplyWho knows even this leak might be an elaborate cover up to hide something more sinister. To paint bungie in a positive light. Theres definitely something going on with bungie management. Whoever that greedy bastard is back there please kindly GTFO. Ps--blam!- you Activision

Aye... I bought destiny for enjoyment of adventure... It was gonna be my escape from the allure of WoW.. They really need to add more patrol areas... I mean they have a whole studio to develop this kinda crap..
-
3 Repliesso if it takes that long to edit a map for PVP imagine how long it takes to edit a patrol mode or make new areas...... bungie needs to revamp this engine quick if they want destiny to succeed 8 hours or more to change or modify existing content is just bad

Bump for about ~8 hours from now .

3 RepliesSo, what I had suspected from the bits that leaked that I'd pieced together ended up being true. Damn. Hopefully, the idiots that left this game in ribbons on the 'Iron Bar' meeting floor learned their lesson and we can continue forward with Destiny 2 being a full, coherent game. I don't know how I feel about a third party studio run by Activision working on this, but from what I hear High Moon has a decent track record. I remain optimistic for the future, but I also remain very upset for the mistakes made to this point.
