Seriously ... What exactly does Hard Light overpenetrate?
I can't tell it's going through anything at all. I love the look, feel, and sound of it, but the signature perk seems pretty useless from what I can tell. I thought for sure it would go through Cabal shields or something. But I can't even tell if it goes through a Thrall. Am I crazy? Are the pretty blue lights blinding me?
Someone educate me.

I have an Update on this topic Soju, Earlier today I was doing a ROC strike and was shooting a Fallen Captain with my HARD LIGHT and noticed something odd. The Captain's Shields were still Up but being depleted by my Rapid fire Hard light, as was his health, Hard Light's Rounds were penetrating the Captains Shields and Doing damage to his health all in the same shot depleting both simultaneously. I'm on 360 so don't have any video of this :( but give it a try for yourself, make sure the level of your enemy is high enough for his shields to matter against you and test it out for yourself, just make sure you focus on the enemies Shield/Health bar I would like confirmation just to make sure i wasn't seeing things.

7 RepliesIf you look closely you'll notice some of the time when you shoot an enemy close to a wall, the bullets will punch through them, hit the wall and bounce back hitting them again. People say the gun is underpowered, I say they need to stop treating it like it's a suros and try playing to the weapons abilitties.

4 RepliesEdited by MrLeprechaun: 3/26/2015 5:54:32 AMThe only thing primarys with overpenetrating rounds go through are enemy, no shields/walls etc.... Just overpenetrates flesh. Line up 2 or more enemy and you will see it happen... Funny side note, you can kill yourself with ricochet

9 RepliesIt penetrates NOTHING. Yes, the signature perk is worthless. Add in the crappy range and Bungie-balance-autorifle-gone-to-far-nerf and you'll realize that you should just stick Hard Light in your vault until Bungie realizes how bad they've made this exotic.

They do pass through normal enemies only, as with all non-sniper "over penetration" weapons (as snipers can go through walls too, though only "thin" ones now). Now, I haven't tried Hard Light, but Thorn's Mark of the Devourer (which overpenetrates too) actually DOES go through Cabal Shields.. it just doesn't damage the Cabal himself with the initial impact (though he gets marked for the DoT though), and it WILL hit anyone who's standing behind the shield bearer... kind of stupid really.

Auto Rifles Suck Now - Bungie - Here is a novel idea - Have your play testers use them. At least we will be able to tell who they are by the low kill scores. How are your statistics now?

3 RepliesI remember during the early days of Destiny reports were coming in stating that the bullets would pass into a Defender's Bubble once. So if you had the Hard Light, and a Defender threw up his bubble, you could still shoot him while he was in the bubble, but if he went out the other side, he was fine. I never had a Hard Light back then to try it out, but it seems that a ninja nerf took place, because people are claiming this does not happen anymore...sad, too - that at least would have made it somewhat at an "exotic" level...
