Hey Bungie; I'm not sure if you noticed, but your fanbase is comprised of mostly -blam!-ing idiots. These geniuses have decided that, since they have discovered the most powerful heavy weapon in the game, everyone needs to use that weapon and only that weapon. If they don't have it, they should be using Icebreaker. I like your game. It's cool. I like your weapons and gear, mostly---they all force players to make CHOICES about what they're going to do. They force players to develop skill, a play style, and most of the weapons have something that is great about them and then something that is not. Black Hammer is one great example of balance. If you're a good shot, it stomps. If you're not, it's ass. It rewards people who are good. Icebreaker on the other hand rewards... Well, shooting. Just shoot. You'll be K. Doesn't matter. Gjallarhorn is a weapon with zero drawbacks. It's impossible to miss, it's extremely strong. YES, I have one. I'm leveling it. I leveled by Bad Juju back when it was 'crap' too. I procured and leveled a Super Good Advice. It's just fun to do. So this isn't an 'I don't have one so I'm mad' post. This is a 'this game hasn't delivered on its promise of unique Guardians' post. Now, I'm going to get mauled by everyone who loves having something that's nonsense strong with no drawbacks. I don't care about any of you. You're defending it because you need it, simple as that. Have fun raging. To Bungie, I think you should seriously consider how having this single weapon that is so coveted (because it is really -blam!-ing strong) moves the gameplay experience toward everyone playing their Guardian uniquely. With weapons that require balance, and favor certain skillsets, people are forced to use different things. You do what you're good at. If the game stays IB and Jellyhorn city, then... I mean, all of the raid gear is already aesthetically identical. Now everyone will be using the same heavy? Just like IB was flooded with SUROS Regime? You've noted yourself (and threw up stats to prove it) that people will overuse the -blam!- out of things that are just really really really really easy to execute with. You seem to get it to that point. So... Please remove or nerf Gjallarhorn. It's just too easy to use. [b]Some suggestions:[/b] - Let it keep Wolf Pack rounds, but either reduce the total damage (so that the initial impact + wolfpack rounds roughly equals one rocket from other rockets---it's already SO DAMN HARD TO MISS WITH THIS THING that high damage just doesn't make sense) or make them track less effectively. - Remove tracking. I'd even be okay with the WP rounds tracking. Just not the initial rocket. You seemed to think it made sense to give Dragon's Break a Solar 'Flare' instead of a napalm effect for reasons unknown, so why not make it so that only the WP rounds track? - One rocket in the tube. Gjallarhorn is a rocket that shoots rockets which turn into little mini rockets. The -blam!- do we really need two shots at a time for? It would balance it with other rockets like, say, DB and Truth which have more in the tube. It would even make certain Machine Guns competitive with it. Thunderlord or a good Prestige IV roll would suddenly look really appealing. People who can aim a MG would shift. People who can't would use rockets still. It creates CHOICES, something you forgot to incentivize in your game. - Reduce tracking on WP rounds. Making them dumb rounds would just make the weapon Hunger of Crota. I get it. But those WP rounds can't miss. The -blam!-? DB's flare can just be walked out of. If you miss with Truth you just suck and oh well. Gjallarhorn has good tracking, and then rounds that track again just as well. They can't be dodged, they can't miss. What? Why would any other choice of a weapon be appealing? AGAIN. My point is that Gjallarhorn creates an environment where very few other weapon choices are appealing. Why the hell would you want your game to be that way? Those of us who were looking forward to what the community would do, playing with people with their own style, are feeling really let down that there's this easy button that everyone is clambering to get. Now. Everyone who missed the point can defend it because they need it and/or are really bad. Go.
