All of our gear will be outdated in March. 0_0

How do you feel about that? Edit #6 (Can the community come together and make the game better?) Edit #2 Also, its going to create a cycle that includes weapons and gear. So that every few months you'll have to start over which is fine but to what end? To be able to do the new raids? Grinding can be seen as indentured servitude where you have to farm to play to level gear. Maybe there should be raids that include 12 people with huge bosses? Edit #1 if you ever played wow, the gear that is gained is used for a longer amount of time! That's better! Makes you feel like getting the gear, leveling it up and using it! It would give you something that you had to truly earn...and make you feel like you actually achieved something rather than got a lucky RNG drop..or Bungie gave you a freebie by upping the level of gear you can just buy".

    They want you to keep us playing the game. If they never raised the cap on things, players would quickly grow tired of it, since there would be nothing left to achieve once they reached the cap. Then it would be like any other traditional game and die off in six months. Also, they're not just gonig to let you trade in all of your old stuff for 331/33/36 stuff with no work. That would defeat the whole idea of keeping you playing the game. Day one of TDB you reach 32 and all your guns trade up to 331, there is little reason to go do the raid, other than for curiosity. That's a good thing, though. Think of how much other forms of entertainment cost. If you look at it in terms of hours of entertainment vs money spent, destiny is really really cheap in comparison. Yes, even if you bought the DLC. You should be glad you can go play the raid or grind marks for the new higher level gear, because it provides you with hours and hours of entertainment plus the excitement of not always knowing what you're going to get. It is necessary for some to get what they want and for others to need to continue trying to get what they want for the game to stay interesting and relevant. If that bothers you to the point of quitting, that's ok. The fact is, Destiny's numbers(9million daily) won't be affected in the least by a few people quitting over that(and you still bought the game lol). It wasn't a screw up. Bungie isn't kicking themselves over it. That is how destiny was meant to be and it will probably always be that way. That brings me to my next point. If every story mission/strike/raid had set rewards that, say, changed from week to week, the game would be much less interesting. Why? Everyone would have all the same new stuff every week. It would need to rename the game "Xurstiny." Every week people would ask themselves, "What bullshit are they going to give us this week?," or, "-blam!-! that gun again? That's the third week in a row!!" I understand that it often feels that way with the current mysterious random system. I've been dealt Ace King in poker twice in a row, and I've gotten IB twice in a row. Trust me. It's still random. The brain fools you into thinking there's a pattern, when there isn't one there. It's how our minds work. If all you get is shards/energies for three weeks straight, it's still random. Next point. Here's a quote from the original post on this thread. That's not a bad thing to want. I get it. You want bragging rights. You want the chance to prove you're the best, and rightly so. Again, and I'm sorry, but that is not how this game was meant to be. They didn't screw up. Bungie isn't kicking themselves over it and they never will. The answer to that desire is the raids. Raid gear can only be earned from the raid which takes skill(using that term loosely). Still random, but loot table is limited to raid gear and very few other things in comparison. I know it's not much consolation, but "flawless raider" is still a 0.2% trophy last time I checked. So there you go, but in addition here's this: The formula they used to develop this game is clearly geared more to the masses. It's just not an "impossibly high skill" kind of game and it's not going to be. They want the average player(another term being used loosely) to be able to get through the raids, at least on normal, because they want to keep as many people as possible interested. They release DLC's every so often because the new gear renews the desire of the masses to achieve the new higher level, which keeps them playing for another few months. While it remains to be seen, it probably won't ever be made so hard that only the elite few(0.2%) are able to beat the raid. That would not be conducive to the previously stated goals of the devs which, I admit, are educated guesses on my part. Be glad your old gear is obsolete. It's why you're still playing. It's why your game+dlc you paid a hundred bucks for isn't collecting dust after three months.

    • Question: If I have a weapon I haven't upgraded, would it require 2 Exotic shards to bring to HoW level? Assuming I would need to upgrade an upgraded weapon to HoW level with an Exotic shard as we have when TDB came out?

      • I hope they do something different in terms of swapping over exotics. The amount of glimmer required is a hassle in itself, and the exotic shards are rather expensive at 7 coins a pop. Not to mention how long it takes to fully max one of them out. The current method wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to level them up again.

      • I kind of think the exotic bounties qualify as something you "earn". I mean, getting the bounty is random but getting the weapon is something guaranteed and earned. I know that when I completed the thorn bounty I felt like I finally had an exotic that I truelly had to work and fight for to earn. Anybody else feel that way?

                I think they are going to change up the whole system of "re-leveling" judging by the complaints. But I could be wrong, and if I am, then I will be pissed.

                • There must be a way to get my weapons upgraded without having to reset the progress on them. I use so many exotics that I can't bear the thought on having to reset all of them..

                  • What about easter egg weapons/armor? Like spend so much glimmer at the tower and receive a chest piece or an item that gives you a discount on purchases or raises max glimmer. If you commit suicide 1000 times at the tower get a helmet with a halo over it. No one would know about these until they receive them and/or someone ruins the fun by posting how to

                    • Nah. I still use Grim Citizen 3 legendary in Crucible. No level advantages right. Just sweet perks. I'll never let it go. Hell, my positive K/D matches in IB were from using a 300 DMG weapon! Don't mind leveling up exotics. Just buy and save telemetry packs from Xur for the class of the weapon, easy peasy. Exotic armor is super fast at leveling.

                    • It doesn't affect me as I am in the minority, I don't go for the latest gear that is considered the best and will make me the strongest; I go for what appeals to me and is good enough and that is what I plan to keep permanently. All the gear I have will be very useful to me permanently, at least for the Crucible once it is all fully upgraded; there will be those in the Crucible who won't fully upgrade their gear or can't for whatever reason and that may give me an advantage. I know many will only equip gear in terms of what makes them the strongest and then dismantle old gear, but I go with what I plan to keep and what interest me; what I find cool looking etc. I only dismantle stuff I don't want and need to dismantle in order to upgrade things I will keep. I like the way "The Glasshouse" looks for example, so I keep it permanently; especially for it's abilities. If I have interest in this so called better armor they release, I can always make use of it and still keep my old armor for the Crucible; chances are I won't get this so called better armor if I need to do a raid as I hate raids.
