When the PSN servers went down around Christmas time I was forced to take a break from Destiny. For me that break ended today. I know the PSN servers have been back for a while now, but I could not bring myself to come back to the game. I found myself feeling relieved when the servers were down. I had an excuse to not be playing. For the first time since release, I could stop playing and not worry about falling behind. I started PC gaming again while I was away, and I have had a great time.
My phone buzzed with a message today asking me to play and I obliged. We didn't play for very long before the person I was playing with signed off. Since tonight is the last night Xur is around, I checked out what I could upgrade, and it turned out I desperately needed to upgrade my Gjallarhorn. If I was going to be continuing my break, I at least needed that upgraded right? Then I saw that Xur had Kuncklehead radar. I needed that upgraded for my main's subclass, despite the fact that I've already put hours into upgrading it in vanilla Destiny.
Then it hit me. What the -blam!- am I doing? Why am I playing this game? I come back after a week-and-a-half hiatus, and do you know what my night consisted of? Glimmer farming... -blam!-ing glimmer farming for three hours straight, because I didn't want to miss out on Xur's upgrades. Something dawned on me as I was sitting in my usual Glimmer farming spot; this is not fun, I am not having fun right now. In fact, this is agonizing. All I want to do is stop playing. This is how I realized after playing Destiny since release day, that I hate Destiny. I hate Destiny for the time it has taken away from me. In the short while I was not playing, I was actually enjoying myself gaming on my PC. I was actually enjoying myself not farming all night while my girlfriend waits for me to finish. I was having a good time not feeling like every action I made was carefully controlled by Bungie.
I haven't even been playing Destiny for more than a few months, and I already feel like it has been a huge drain on my life. And worst of all, I was never actually having a good time. It isn't even like Destiny is even a good game! If you are going to sink hours of your life into a video game, for God's sake make sure it's actually a good one at least! Quit while you can guys. This game utterly sucks. You are all just mindless drones programmed into doing the same thing over and over. Get out while you can.
And no Deej, we cannot be friends. You are promoting a game you know is garbage. I don't feel sorry for you. You and Bungie deserve all the hate you get.

Another wall of text to say "I stopped playing the game". Yay good for you. Question, does it hurt ? Is it like breaking up? If so. See a therapist you need to start finding enjoyment in real life and the video game world. Deej and the video game world owe you nothing.

This is a fun game. The raids are fun and the crucible is great.

See ya =D>

TL;DR Bye!

Then let's stop playing and not get destiny 2 or 3

TL;DR thought it'd be a nice post about this; "I can't do this anymore, I done... ...I had to quit my job to make more time for Destiny" Not some actual complaint that is a bunch of bologna; - You don't like Farming? Do not Farm. But don't complain that it will take you a while to upgrade things w/out it - You don't like Servers being down? Blame the A-Holes who attacked the system, not the folks who made it. Sure they received a warning about the attack but how do you defend against an attack that mimics a bunch of xmas noobs paired with OG players signing in on Xmas day? - You don't think its a good game? That's an opinion and just like the literal a$$hole we all come equipped with

The problem with Destiny is people are really playing it wrong. The trick is to pop in about 6 hours a week to knock out the nightfall, do a raid, and see Xur. If you spend any longer then you're seeing drastically diminished returns. It is designed to be a casual game, and playing it any other way really highlights it's flaws.
"You are all just mindless drones programmed into doing the same thing over and over. Get out while you can."
This is true of everything, including life.

I hate you. I hate you for how much of my time you have wasted.

1 commentaireTakeaway: It took you three hours to farm 14000 glimmer?

3 commentairesNews Flash! Video Gaming is a waste of time regardless! The only thing that can even be considered serious is competetive gaming, other than that, you are wasting your time. Every game that has a currency makes you work for it, eventually you put that game down and move to the next and what do you bring over? Nothing, you wasted how ever many hours you put into said game and will waste more on any other game you play. Video gaming is a pass time and saying you wastef your time on one game in particular is rather ridiculous because you are wasting your time on any game that you play.

3 commentairesI'm feeling the same way, but not just about Destiny...I haven't been playing games or my PS4 since PSN went down. I don't know, it seems a waste of time. I started exercising every day, and I'm also eating healthier. I'm not trolling, it's like that break from Destiny/games made me realise some things I was doing wrong. I'm gonna see some doctors in the next weeks to check if my health is ok, and I'm gonna find another things to do instead of being seated in a chair playing some stupid games during my free time.

This post sums up exactly how I feel after checking back on the game after a two week break. @OP - If I could give you more than +1 I would. We are FREE! Cheers and see ya around in other games! :D

I care, soooo much : )
-
Amen I say to you.

I just play games to kill things and for the occasional epic moments that occur that I can tell my friends about. Destiny really does both for me so I find it quite fun.
-
The trick here is that all games are a time sink. Go play an MMO on the PC or Battlefield and its a time sink either way. Go watch a movie or a ball game and those are also time sinks. It's all a matter of YOUR perspective. I've chosen to look at it as...I'm having fun with Destiny and saving hundreds of dollars on all the games I'm not buying. In the end I see it as a win win. YMMV

1 commentaireModifié par Nidien : 1/5/2015 6:13:36 PMYou mean people do other things than: 1)Log on, on Tuesday for reset 2) grab bounties 3) Crush the nightfall 4) Crush Crota log off 1)Log on, on Wednesday 2) grab bounties 3) Crush Vog Hard log off Friday thru Monday 1)Log on. Grab bounties 2) play 1 hour to complete bounties log off, insert another game. Friday thru Monday will go down to 30 min once I have everything leveled and only feel the need to do Eris bounties...and maybe even then..not at all as I'll hit rank 4 tonight. Bungie has seriously not thought out the content nor the reward system. Now, if the Nightfall etc rewarded the new raid shards there would be just a tad more worth doing. As it stands though..2 days a week other than an hour the rest of the week is all I play anymore as there is literally nothing worth going out and getting. I may play with a few other pieces of armor etc that are currently on my character but I have nothing to do than wait for Radiant crap on Tuesdays..oh I can do a few RoC strikes in hopes of a new ship but really..what does it matter..RNG is a bitch so I have just as much a chance running 4 strikes a week than I do 2,000..and that's a glaring problem.
-
I have quit playing 50 games over the last few years but Destiny is the first one where people write letters when they quit.. too funny
-
I just started playing again after a 3 week break. I realized I have ZERO interest in replaying the PVE content over and over and over. Regardless of the rewards. After doing them so many times, it's just not fun. The raid strikes missions and patrol are all about just getting through them as fast as possible for the rewards. I want to play the part of destiny I actually enjoy and keeps me engaged. PVP BABY! All I'm playing on my brand new warlock (except story and patrol to unlock crucible bounties) is crucible. I refuse to do any more painful repetitive grinding of pve content.

14 commentairesI seriously don't understand why the need for anyone to post " I'm quitting Destiny because x" posts. If you don't want to play, move on. Don't make a big essay out of it. To me all these people are doing is trying to justify some kind of reason for themselves to not play anymore.
