Are we obligated to fall in love with this game? I've been a Bungie fan since Halo 1. I've bought and played every Bungie game since then, and loved every one. But I do because Bungie has, in the past, put out high-quality content. Destiny, however, has not lived up to the hype, or the ridiculously high standard that Bungie has set for themselves. As much as I am a fan of Bungie, I am no less of a "real gamer" for speaking my opinions on Destiny.
Do I enjoy Destiny? I do. And I feel it was worth the price of admission. But am I disappointed by the end product, and the apparent lack of recognition from the developer? I am. This is a prime example of how a runaway budget and two bloated companies can end up crippling a project that promised the world.

See what your problem is is that thinking this is the end product. This is just the beginning, we won't see the " end product" until year 10. I became a gamer because of Bungie and halo, and I personally like Destiny more than I ever did halo, don't get me wrong I still love halo, but I feel that the halo universe was made around master chief, that that universe was made solely for him, whereas the Destiny universe feels more like the guardians where placed in the Destiny universe. It feels more natural than halo ever did

While I see your point, I disagree. I feel that the Destiny universe is far more bland and uninteresting than the Halo universe. The Covenant are way more intersting and driven than the Fallen in my opinion. And the Flood terrify me much more than any number of Hive. These enemies were so fleshed out that by the 3rd game they felt like individual characters themselves. You knew who you were fighting, what was at stake, WHY you were fighting, and why they were fighting you. I don't get that from the Fallen, Hive, Vex, Cabal, or "the Darkness." Halo was a great game that was fun to play and had an amazing story. Destiny is a great game that is fun to play, but lacks soul in the form of a well written story.
-
The reason it feels more bland is because you really have to search for a storyline, unlike halo where the feed you a story from minute 1, which isn't a bad thing but it just felt forced to me, Destiny feels like the mass effect games to me, everything just flows better looking at it from in-game

True, the grimoire is full of lore, but the only way to access it is through the app or the site. It pulls you out of the game, and anything the breaks the immersion is bad for a video game; this is game design 101. At least in ME there were TOMES worth of dialogue between characters. If you wanted to learn more about a character, place, or anything really, you could ask the right questions in dialogue. Or if you wanted to get back into the action, you could skip the extra dialogue. It was all in-game, and the fact that it was conversations between characters made it feel organic and most importantly kept the player immersed. The grimoire is no where close to this. If you want to learn more about Destiny, you have to remove yourself from Destiny.

This game wont last till the end product if it isnt fun now. Bungie shouldnt think, hey our consumers will understand we are still developing and will buy or dlc on the notion that it will get better ( majority of consumers will not do this) Instead for an intro to a game, they shouldve made the consumer think, this is so dope i cant wait for the next dlc to come out
-
Well I'm having a blast with the game now

Modifié par Rogue Alpha Six : 9/20/2014 6:16:13 AMIf it was worth the money and you enjoy it. That's where it should end, that's what the OP is trying to communicate. The nitpicking. Companies coming together and making a game is not our freakin business TBH.

They didnt come together to make a game. They came together to make money. Dont fool yourself into thinking otherwise.
