In New York City, a judge has upheld a ruling stating that kids must be vaccinated to attend public schools. This is a good thing, and I hope every other state has similar policies (in truth, I have no idea if they do. If they don't, then they should)

71 commentairesTypical leftist hypocrisy. Whatever happened with muh pro-choice and muh body? Cherry picking and double-standards are fun. It's great to know killing an innocent life is perfectly fine but it's wrong for a parent to be afraid of putting chemicals in their children

29 commentairesIf the principle behind allowing abortion is that women have the right to their own body, then why the -blam!- are we imposing vaccinations on children's bodies? I'm all for vaccinations and requiring them to be in school, but liberals need to get their shit straight.

I thought law was everywhere in US cause PA has it

24 commentairesModifié par Madman Mordo : 6/26/2014 2:57:59 PMAlright, I'mma refute this "pro choice" strawman the rightists keep busting out in practically every single vaccination thread. An abortion is self contained. The only party it affects is the mother and perhaps maybe the father. Conservatives like to espouse the argument that there's some kind of third party involved, but currently there is no arbitrary scientific backing to define when life begins, but it certainly doesn't occur during conception. Vaccinations do not just affect an individual. You all realise how contagions work, right? All it takes is one individual to bring about the recurrence of a deadly disease, as was seen with patient zero and measles. This is why vaccinations need to be mandatory, because disease and deadly pathogens aren't self contained. It's a health issue that affects everyone. Abortion is a personal choice that effects maybe one or two people at best. I'm getting sick of retards drawing this comparison, so cut the shit guys.

My old Catholic elementary school required vaccines, and the only time I was notably sick was when I got alcohol-poisoning during high school. Anyways, children attending a public school should require vaccinations. On the other hand, private schools shouldn't be required and given full reign about what their students require before attending. This way people of both opinions can be at peace. Although, my exact belief about vaccines are that they have been a game changer in human history. The research and production of them have saved countless lives, so why should we give them a bad wrap because someone wants them to be required/non-required? If your beliefs say otherwise, then I'm not for it but I won't go insane over you, just don't try to force others into what you think is right. All that I ask, is at least vaccinate your children until they're old enough to start making their own decisions; then they can choose to follow your beliefs or their own. Additionally, the only way a vaccination shot can be detrimental to one's own health is if malpractice occurs. Malpractice, however, applies to almost all ways to administrate medicines. So should we stop vaccinations because someone got injected with mercury, the wrong vaccine, or a used needle? Absolutely not, if something like this is happening then it should mean that new regulations or certain higher expectations be set and implemented for these professional practices.
What I mean by parents vaccinating their children in spite of their own beliefs is that I feel as if they are too young to follow any religious/political beliefs that the parents (or anyone) have. When they become at least 10 or even further into to the teen years, then the parent can tell them all about their beliefs so that they can choose to accept it or refuse it.
7 commentairesReading this thread has baffled me. This is actually a thing in the US? Like, seriously? People arguing against vaccinations and turning this into a political debate? Holy. Shit.

Because New York has proven to be such a good example.

Good. This is one step in the right direction.

Modifié par Forever Berg : 6/25/2014 9:17:53 PMTo the people posting the "study" that says that unvaccinated people have less infection and allergies than vaccinated, other German scientists called bullcrap on the original study (did not properly interpret numbers, procedures were terribly performed). They refuted the study by conducting their own and found the opposite, unvaccinated children are more likely to have infections and illness (ones that can be vaccinated against), but vaccination status does not matter when regarding allergies and infection

This has been a thing since I was in 1st grade, not a big deal.
-
Pretty sure that's mandatory in loads of places. I know back in high school,, you weren't allowed back to class until you were caught up on your vaccinations.
-
It should be a law that if you don't vaccinate your children, you should have them taken away by the CPS.
-
I thought this was the norm. Hmm.

6 commentairesHow did this become a political issue with Conservative members and Liberal Members at each others throats? This is a public health issue. Choosing to not be vaccinated puts the larger population at risk. Not everyone can be vaccinated. Those people rely on herd immunity to keep them safe. When members of the herd choose to forgo the immunity, it puts the others at risk. Furthermore, as diseases become prevalent again, they mutate causing new strains, and new diseases for us to die from. For the majority vaccines have no ill-effect. There has never been a longstanding reputable and repeatable study that links Autism, or any other disorder to vaccines. Please stop politicizing this. It isn't about personal liberty or the sanctity of your body. If you choose those as your sole reason to not be vaccinated, then by all means take the consequences and enjoy your home schooling or alternative education schools that allow you to attend. We have a societal contract stating that you don't do anything to hurt the group, or you are outed. That can mean expulsion from public school, jail, execution or deportation (all dependent of the crime.) Choose to hurt the group for illness and the group chooses to push you from its schools.

I feel like a lot of people are getting the wrong interpretations of a vaccine. Getting a Vaccine makes your immune system less likely to fall to the specific diseases(Or diseases) That you were vaccinated for. A good percentage of the time,it works. It does not make you healthier. You may just have a stronger immune system and never had to get a vaccine for some things. I personally never got a vaccine for measles or chicken pox. The reason why vaccines are important, especially in schools.(Where kids touch everyone and everything) Is so that no one gets infected or seriously hurt. For instance, lets say MERS(Just using it as an example) Suddenly arrived in NYC. MERS is contagious. But they had developed a vaccine for it. Naturally people would want their kids to be safe and get the vaccine. It's all so we can have security and comfort instead of worrying 24/7:Is my child going to get infected?(Yes,some parents are actually like that.) Bottom line,Vaccines do not make you healthier. They make you less likely to be infected.
