There is no hype for the next consoles?! There is nothing to be excited for.
New flash!
The new consoles are coming out next week. I just now realized this. Where's the hype? I mean is there [i]anything[/i] to be hyping out about? Not really. All the good games are coming out later. And here's the kicker, both consoles aren't backwards compatible. So what's the point buying it day one? Might as well wait for the prices to drop.
Both consoles require pay to play online, -blam!- that, I'll stick with my ps3 that will be capable enough to play Destiny.

For me, I don't like any of the launch titles and the ones I'm interested in won't be coming out until 2014 anyways. There's no reason to overhype myself for a launch. I'm basically finishing out this generation with the Destiny Beta on my 360 then moving over to next gen. There will most likely be a couple patch updates to the new consoles anyways.

Yeah I really had no idea they were coming out (I think PS4 came out already because there are reviews? I don't even know). None of the launch titles interest me and I likely won't buy one until Destiny comes out, and that depends entirely on when more information about Destiny comes out if it looks like I'll want it. Are the new consoles not backwards compatible at all? That's ridiculous, I want to buy them even less now.

7 commentairesThe point of buying it day one is i have a 1080p tv and not a 648p tv. If you want jagged lines, blurry textures, limited view distances, less plants, less effects, worse effects, less players, just less immersive worlds period! Then go ahead and wait. That pay to play online i have had for months already. And guess what i got Battlefield 3 free, dragons dogmas expansion free, Ico free, shadow of the colossas free, Infamous free, omg so many i can't remember. For the PS4 we get don't starve, Drive club, Contrast, a few weird indi games.

I can hook my 360's up through my Xbox One and play both at the same time. Why would I ever need backwards compatibility? The only reason would be so I didn't have to keep my old hardware(aka selling it to Gamestop for less than half the price of a game.)

They haven't given me a reason to buy them yet. £350 could get me 40 games on steam easily; that's a lot more play time than a console with 1 game.

I've not really cared. Having too much fun with my pc games to pay attention to launch weeks of new consoles. Iv'e never bought a console on day 1 and never will. I like to wait a year (or even longer) before I consider one. by then I get a brand new console and all these expensive launch titles will be like $20 bargain bin prices or less.

Forza and COD 2 were the only games that went for it, together with the promise of Halo 3 and the upcoming new franchise called Gears of war. The PS3 actually had nothing at launch, but it was hyped to hell with it's upcoming exclusives like, primarily, Final fantasy 13, MGS3 and Killzone 2. The general public still got the consoles, and that although the 360 had limited backward compatibility and the PS3's high price. The thing was, that the games like Gears of war were exiting and new. While games like most PS3's exclusives and Halo 3 promised to impress.
