Just wanted to share some thoughts that I've always had.
So evolutionists believe in the Big Bang and thats how our world started and then we all evolved from single-cell to multi-cell organisms and so on.
Religion believes that an almighty power created everything.
Well I've always had the thought that, well couldn't God have created the big bang/evolution? Couldn't he have created things to evolve and all?
Just a thought I've always had not tryin to start a flame war or anything. But what do you guys think? Could it be possible or is this just bad thinking?

1 commentaireGod was the big-bang. /thread.

1 commentaireModifié par Divine Thunder2 : 3/12/2013 6:48:48 PMI have always thought that God made the Big Bang. At least something had to have been there that caused the Big Bang or whatever led up to it. And by something, I don't mean anything like matter or something physical.

I dont think the concept of evolution has much to do with the big bang to be honest. You are associating them being part of each other, when they are separate entities. people who believe in science, tend to believe in both though, but BB=/=Evolution.
-
Thing is The Big Bang didn't need a creator. So adding a God to the equation would just be unnecessary.

2 commentairesI'm religious (Christian) and I believe in the big bang and evolution. I understand the book of Genesis as symbolism and parables. The Bible is not a science book, nor should it be used as one.

Modifié par Hoggs Bison : 3/11/2013 10:08:23 PM
So evolutionists believe in the Big Bang
Not necessarily-- but many do. And while it's easier to use "believe" in conversation, it's also important to keep in mind that nobody actually believes in science. Science produces facts about reality that can be accepted or denied, but there is no room for belief. People who don't understand this (not you) are the ones who say things like "well I believe in God and you believe in science so there" or "science is just another belief/religion". This is a symptom of a greater problem, where people try to equate science and religion. The explanations they provide can conflict, but that doesn't make them equally valid (or invalid). Anyway, A lot of people, generally the more modern and progressive ones, believe God produced the Big Bang and set into motion evolution. It's part of the "gap ideology", where any gap in scientific explanation is filled in by God, and since science has yet to find the answers, God must be the right one. When science does end up finding an answer, God just moves up one tier ("well who created that process, huh??"). The process is repeated until God Himself comes down from the heavens and tells everyone to give it a rest will you it's giving me a me-damn headache.

2 commentairesModifié par Winy : 3/11/2013 10:06:33 PMI see a lot of people who assume the Big Bang was the beginning of existence altogether, that it came from nothing at all. The simple problem is that this isn't accurate, and is brought about by people's laziness in regards to researching. Somewhat relevant, but I felt the need to throw it out there.
-
Simple really. Let's say every scientist shoe horned "God" into the unknown answer "What caused the Big Bang, what was around before it" and everyone believed that, then there would be no incentive to try to find out what was actually before the Big Bang.
-
2 commentairesIt sounds laudable to try and correlate both concepts, but in actuality, they're 100% incompatible.
-
12 commentairesI like to believe the religious version, makes us feel as if we have a purpose. Although the evolution version makes sense.
-
6 commentairesPersonally, I find science and religion incompatible. If you subscribe to both, you cannot follow either one to a T; you have to compromise on one or the other. To be a person of science, you need to accept evidence, facts, and reason. To simultaneous believe in a deity who has provided no evidence of his existence despite being the most powerful force in the universe, is unscientific.
-
2 commentairesI stop taking people seriously as soon as they say "evolutionists"
-
2 commentairesNeither of those concepts are mutually exclusive. And your "thought?" It's called Theistic Evolutionism, and 60% of all Catholics are associated with it. You are definitely not alone in that regard, I'm surprised that you think you are.
-
Definitely could be a possibility. Unfortunately so many people on both sides choose to define one way or another as being the exclusive way. It either has to be God created everything like this, or Evolution/Big Bang happened all on it's own. Not saying I believe in one or the other, just throwing out the possibility of both.
-
1 commentaireReligion and science aren't mutually exclusive. Tons of people have their religion and believe in science.
-
Sure, it's possible, but what reason does anyone have to actually believe that? There isn't any evidence that a supreme being started it, so why assume?
-
And thats exactly what I believe. I believe in evolution AND God.
