I really can't understand why people find this so difficult to grasp - drop weighting is nothing new, in fact it has been there since the very first days of Destiny 1 and has affected everything from the perks to the very gear that drops itself (remember how nobody could get a Gjally or a 1KV no matter how many runs, but how everyone got an Edge Transit for every second drop practically everywhere)? They've not understood the system enough to fix it in a decade; what on Earth makes you think they'll fix it overnight (or indeed, EVER)?

  • I agree. Drop code is part of the engine. The part that requires actual coding and not just building art. It's also the part that bungie doesn't want to touch because they really don't have those types of programmers anymore. So yes, they don't want to touch it, and low chance it gets fixed. It's also not a 1 bug fix in it fixes it as a whole. It's been the same mostly untouched engine since the beginning of D1. That's the problem. The only positive to creating a D3, is if it is made from a new engine. Otherwise, it'll just be the same as now. I just wish bungie would acknowledge it isn't working correctly and that they will take a look. That being said people need to keep complaining.

  • TBH, I also wish people would stop holding out for a D3 - it's never going to happen because Bungie are bored of it now and they want to move on. They did the same with Halo (after spending a similar amount of time on it), only this time they don't get to bail and leave somebody else holding the baby, so they're just shrugging and letting it die (unless they really are that blinkered that they can't see what's happening, which would be baffling beyond reason).

  • Yeah, I do get annoyed with people blindly asking for a D3 as if changing the number fixes anything. But it's really the only hope. I do hope for a D3 with a new engine even though I know it's highly unlikely to ever happen. But blindly begging for a D3 without the proper changes enables getting the same thing over and over. I think the status of Marathon is the biggest factor on the future of D2.

  • Couldn't agree more - I hope I'm wrong about a future D3 (or even a complete FFXIV style overhaul), but I doubt it. Their focus right now is Marathon, made all the more disturbing by the lack of of any information coming out about it, let alone gameplay. Marathon will either be the biggest stealth release of 2025 or the game that almost was in 2026. Either way, it's definitely not for me though, and I think a large chunk of the D2 community feel the same way, so I think Sony are taking a big risk on Bungie finally delivering the live service game they want, especially in the wake of things like Concord.
