Why is the community like this? - Commendations
I've been back playing d2 for about a month now, and the commendation system is simply unfortunate.
Since I've been back, I've given 242 commendations, and only received 116. I've completed so many games in different game modes and rarely are commendations given out, it's sad. Just the fact I've given out more than double the amount I've received, not gunna lie, it pisses me off.
It's sad because most can't be bothered to send them out, and it affects other guardians like myself who need commendation score to rank up with guardian ranks. I don't know why it's like this, it's truly unfortunate how selfish & "forgetful" [u]most[/u] of the community is.
I strongly believe they need to change the commendation system. Change it from your score only being received commendations and make it received & given commendations, it's that simple.
That being said, rest assured my fellow guardians if we match up, you can count on me for a commendation!

The commendation system is stupid it would be a whole lot better if it was coded to your input and the game itself gave them like the medals system from the strike playlist from rise of iron times

Because commendations are pointless? Don’t get me wrong, I’ll give them out when I remember, but I pick randomly who I give them to, even the other team at times. But this and guardian ranks are some of the dumbest stuff I’ve ever seen development time wasted on, personally.

Just remove the requirements or commendations altogether. Serious waste of development time with those.

I hate the whole commendation system. I don't want to receive I also don't usually give except if I see someone give then I give bc I assume it is some like you. I am rank 5 and wish I could go lower. I also think the commendation system is a giant giant waste of time especially how it was executed.

Because it's not essential for literally anything once you hit rank 6 or whatever the last loadout slots rank up is. Beyond that it really has absolutely zero use beyond making numbers that don't matter go up. Just completely irrelevant. But for the people who do care, making it count sent commendations would be totally fine and hurt nobody, so why not.

1 commentairePeople with manners give them. The same players who ruin otherwise fun activities don’t. It’s like not being surprised when level 10 and 11 rush ahead and kill everything so you can’t complete your bounties, etc. Anonymous arrogance.

Said screen rarely loads in on time. This happens to me a series x - yes I know you can go to stat screen and do it, but if the page it dumps you to doesn’t load, I’m not inclined to use the work around.

I can't get past rank 8 solo , so I no longer give af about commendations or the entire guardian rank sham

I always commend others. It’s the polite thing to do.

I always give commendations out but not really bother about getting them myself. Only time I don’t is if a player is playing like a nob ie always rushing ahead , never reviving and playing like a 10 year old on coke.

It increases when you hand them out and when you receive them.

its because when commendations came out people treated as loot and farm them to 10000000000000000. So they dont need them anymore

I didnt even know that commendations had an impact on guardian rank. I'm just handing out the weekly dose needed for Hawthorne's reward.

1 commentaireCommendations was a good idea, but poorly implemented. I'd rather they just remove it at this point. Guardian Ranks are just as pointless as they were also poorly implemented. So, they can just go ahead and remove it too.

The Community was super excited and actively giving out (and even farming) Commendations when they first dropped. Now it's not even on their radar because the once you hit the Guardian rank you need, it auto-renews. "Get something-thousand commendations! Oh wait you did!" [b]If you want commendations now, you are more likely to get them from your fireteam in pvp, dungeons, or raids. [/b] I love giving them out. I try and hit the top of the leaderboard ("thanks for your efforts!") and the bottom ("Keep trying, it gets better!") and was pysched to learn you can give them to your opponents as well. Last place on the losing team always gets a commendation from me. "Here's a little encouragement to come back and try again."

I don’t know anyone actually tracks this… cool idea at first. But it seems like a chore at the end of a match. Not all commendations reflect how I feel about my team mates either. The sand bag on my team will get “saints favorite”.. they need a better system. Destiny 2 is kinda on its last leg here and I doubt they are wanting to touch commendations before address the decrease in player population.

4 commentairesThey could have been a neat little way to say “thank you” or “well played” to a fellow guardian. Instead, it’s another thing to grind and some people get antsy when they don’t receive them. Personally, I’d disconnect them from guardian ranks, remove any record of commendations handed out / received and allow everyone a maximum of 7 commendations to hand out each week. Then they might actually have some meaning beyond “make number go up”.

The commendation and guardian ranks systems are both completely useless systems and I do not participate in them. I did the whole rank 11 completion when it first came out and the very next season all that progress was wiped out and I was like “nope”. Commendations were supposed to be a representation of the players temperament or “personality” while playing with them. But since everyone just hands out whatever at the ends of activities for a pinnacle and (more importantly) since there’s no way to negatively score someone for being toxic - a players commendation score doesn’t reflect on the player, just how many activities they’ve farmed. Guardian Ranks were supposed to be an indicator of a player’s skill level. But, they have no upper skill tests that really separate people - the majority of the items that need to be completed are very simple and basic. Also, the game is plagued by paid carries - so this number is just as useful to determine a player’s skill as flawless rewards from Trials or the “conqueror” & “GodSlayer” titles. Having a rank 11 doesn’t equate to the player being “good”. Since both do not represent anything about the player, but rather just how passionate you’re to check boxes each season, most people see it as irrelevant and don’t participate.

You only get anything if you leave feedback- once I got my rewards I stop and just leave. Whole thing is ridiculous.

For the most part, I cannot give commendations because the screen takes a year to load.

Guardian ranks are just a number, it's artificial grind that resets every season which is just pointless. Guardian ranks should not have reset each season, and should've been accumulative. (G rank 77 for ex.) you only need to get to guardian rank 7-9 for loadout slots and that's it. just that one time and you're done until they add more to get to that point again. i'll give commendations when i feel like it, but that's the best i've got to offer.

"... be the change you wish to see in the world." You want more commendations? Just keep giving them out and hope people "pay you back." I think the lack of commendations is a combination of selfishness, forgetfulness, and laziness ("I can't be bothered to click more buttons." "I want the next match to start already.", etc.). You're literally depending on the kindness of strangers. I always try to give out commendations for PvE activities, unless my blueberries are trolling or throwing. In PvP, I almost never expect/send commendations unless we win; that's just how I am.
