Melee whiffs and weird tracking.
Don't know what coding has been changed a while ago with the melee patches, but melee registration feels like it is becoming worse and worse. Shoulder bashes, grapple melee, etc. they all just whiff, don't register, just go straight trough enemies occasionally or you are being pushed out by the target.
It is totally messed up more than half of the time using.
Even the tracking is just insane. Sometimes it just turns 90 degrees to an enemie you don't even look at. i mean, how ?? (also a very anoying sword thing btw).
Bungie, pls just look at the coding or something. because melee's have been bad since it has been changed, and it feels like it is getting worse and worse since the time goes on.

This is an old issue. Melee powered and unpowered distance, targeting, damage, and others are inconsistent. Strand melee issues that surfaced when dropped still remain. Some are consistent across everything others unique to character and classes. Some seem to work one day and break the next. Since everyone is affected we continue to report and work around it.

There's definitely something off with tracking. I've watched my Coldsnap grenades completely ignore an enemy they fell right beside and ride off into the distance towards absolutely nothing way too many times this season. That's in PvE by the way.

From my personal experience, the most recent thorn in my mind, is having the melee on my strand titans go wonky. I have unpowered melee bound to “Right thumbstick Click” and Powered melee bound to “Right Bumper” When I press bumper to get the strand extendo-lunge and then say I want to use an unpowered melee to finish a kill, the game will spam 2x strand melee. Sometimes if I spam the thumbstick click right after using a powered melee, it will continue using Powered Melees. It’s little things like this that can kill momentum in rounds.

Melee hit detection is wonky anywhere near stairs in midtown onslaught. In my experience at least.

what about the input lag and shotgun whiff when getting shot at??? Bungie doing its best to ruin our experience.

Yeah, that sword swing backwards behind you when you wanted to go forward is so annoying. Even my smoke bomb is annoying, when I tried to melee (even had it unassigned, my hunter still throws smoke when I want to melee.

Honestly melee whiffs aren't the only problem. Tracking for a lot of abilities needs some improvement. Slova Bomb, Needlestorm, and Arcane Needle have some serious tracking problems. For melee registration, even Thundercrash has issues where you just slide off the target sometimes instead of actually dealing impact damage. It's felt like Bungie really wants the game to just become a shooter at this rate and that just feels poor with how the game is built.

Melee whiff has always been horrible especially for Titans, it has a 50% of sending you into a wall or off a cliff, not reliable even with the glorious Greaves.

its always been this way. i'm guessing that due to the low player population you are getting laggier lobbies which is why it seems worse.

Frenzy blade has some of the most abysmal tracking ever. You can have an enemy in your face and sometimes you will melee like, backwards. Shoulder charge tracking feels pretty bad too. Someone will be right in your face and you’ll hit like an invisible wall right over their head and whiff. I have went THROUGH people will shoulder charge in supers, and had to turn around because it’s like I’m hitting nothing. Registration needs to be tuned. Meanwhile weighted knife gives free one shots across the map

I hate it when people in pvp slide all the time. Melee always misses even when its targetting someone

Been like this since D1, you aren’t a detective or a technician, just report what you’re experiencing and move on, you don’t need to take randoms stabs in the dark.

Explosive throwing knife and smoke bombs have a tendency to slingshot around an enemy if thrown directly at them.
