I do think it is extremely ludicrous that they place these highly desirable weapons in the game to incentivize players to purchase and play, then remove them from the game for being too powerful, and years later, sell them to players again in a weakened form. This is the epitome of a bait-and-switch (pun not intended) in which something highly coveted is later taken away. The problem is: how much longer will Destiny players continue to fall for these dishonest practices? Similarly, when players spend a lot of time grinding for weapons with specific roles that later become obsolete (e.g., either through power creep or balance patches), it represents an awful feeling that I don't think is mentioned often enough. Unfortunately, as long as players keep playing, I would not anticipate these sorts of practices to change. More unfortunate, this is a problem that even Bungie does not recognize as a major contributor to player burnout and decreasing retention, which means that the cycle will continue until it reaches the point of no return.
