No it really isn’t. There is a huge amount of people excited for marathon between new fans and people who played in the 90s.
It’s more like from software abandoning soulslikes for armoured core, which they are pretty much doing.
Literally happened with destiny and halo. Destiny got more resources and that’s why odst was kinda meh.
Halo lasted 7 years (under bungie) destiny has lasted 10. It was always eventually going to end and be replaced by a new IP.

Unless there's something, this marathon is just another extraction shooter while using the name to sell nostalgia to old players We already have marathon at home

Fromsoftware didn’t abandon souls games, armored core came before souls games. And the souls-like games they make rake in SOOOOOO much more revenue than their armored core games. Fromsoftware just never misses though, every game, every DLC slaps. Bungie has failed numerous DLCs and numerous launches.
-
No it’s exactly the same. Armoured core was from software’s old series, they moved onto the souls games now they are stopping soulslikes to go back to armoured core (beyond Elden ring DLC from software won’t be making soulslike games anymore). Marathon was bungie’s old ip, bungie moved to halo then destiny, now they are stopping destiny to go back to marathon.

I didn’t know the original Marathon was an extraction shooter
-
it wasn't ,it's a doom lite clone
-
I don’t think anything was was released saying fromsoftware will stop making souls likes. Where did you hear that?
-
Runaway comments. The original post said it ''This is as ridiculous as if FromSoftware were to abandon their souls-formula to start making battle royales.'' OP was just creating an as-if comparison and things bloomed from there.

Marathon will fail, 99,9% sure of it
-
I hope it will.. I swear I’ll laugh so very evilly and say well deserved bungie hahaha.

I’m honestly really not sure who you’re talking to. I think my initial statement still stands: the game is so unlike Destiny that Destiny PVE players will have no interest, Destiny pvp players will have no interest due to seeing how they handled D2 pvp as of late, and Tarkov players definitely won’t migrate to Marathon due to all the negative things they hear about D2 pvp. Marathon will not be as big as Destiny, at least. I don’t see it having mostly positive reviews, I see it having mixed reviews. We’ll see

It’s not meant to market to destiny players. It’s bungie moving on.
