Not to rain on your parade but thr D1 armor in the posters was simple (I’ll give you that) but it was boring as sin, lacking in style, and about as vanilla as possible. I think D2 armor (for the most part) is better than D1 BECAUSE they realize there are only so many ways to color inside the lines if your style variety tolerance is very strict. I totally get that some of the armor today blends lines, but I think that’s a good thing. You don’t have to agree with me at all. That’s fine. Just don’t equip it. That’s the beauty of having a variety of styles to choose from.

D1 had a system where they followed an "under-suit" sort of like Halo I guess? Where they would be able to add armor that looks not too visually different like D2 but can look rather unique while also preventing clipping with other armor pieces in most instances. That and they followed similar design to the armor so each class was always distinct. Now in D2 I feel like they fired 90% of their artists as they don't really bother anymore. Lots of armor clips through each other, many hunter cloaks have a floating front part and the Iron Banner hunter cloak when you have your helmet off doesn't lower the wolf pelt hood it just disappears entirely. They then also listened to people complaining about similar looking armor and so have gone to making every set vastly different which means mixing and matching in 99.99% of instances will never create a cohesive look. If you were a brand new player looking at the Lightfall destination armor you probably couldn't tell which class is which because all 3 look the exact same pretty much. If you even look at November Hotel's video about D1 graphics compared to D2 disregarding his whole "D1 was better" -blam!- you can see clear as day how much more effort was put into the details and effects of the environments of D1 and then in D2 it all looks flat and muted. Lest we forget the half finished cosmodrome that doesn't even have a day and night cycle.

They’re most likely reprising the original D1 armor. In the season ending cutscene there’s all 3 Guardians standing behind Zavala wearing the original D1 armor.

D1 did it best. You could tell titan from hunter from lock. Those armor designs were amazing. Not only that you could tell male and lady apart. D2 could never…

I want dragon armor for my warlock.

I mean Titans are now getting hoods to they’ll look exactly like some Hunters do. Now that Titans have hoods it’s only a matter of time before Warlocks get them. Then they’ll both demands capes. Hunters will soon just be discounted titans as far as appearance goes.

I want the vanguard’s armor, and then fun as hell armors.

I think all the classes have become more like themselves than they were in D1. Titans are living walls, warlocks are the space librarians, and hunters are the caped rogues. The design of the classes in D1 are like the skeleton of the class armors we have now. D2 just added meat to the bones. Edit: and right as I say that, Bungie gives the titans a hood.🤦🏻‍♂️
