This video nails it. I've been saying this since day 1. Destiny 2 graphics are a subpar disappointment. Bungie couldn't even get that right. This is one of the many reasons I don't consider Destiny 2 to be AAA franchise.

2 commentairesIt’s a simple concept. D1 better.

6 commentairesYou know you’re making a good point when you post a YT vid and don’t get downvotes into oblivion. This is rare.

1 commentaireDestiny 1 just has an overall grittier feel to it, darker shadows and more washed out colors. Destiny 2 is very vibrant and bright by comparison. Almost feels more fantasy by design. That’s the feel I get looking at comparisons anyway. Technically of course Destiny 2 looks much better, which is expected. Which art style you prefer though is entirely subjective, it’s hard to say one looks definitively better than the other in terms of style.
-
It wasn't anyway. The release of d2 itself was a bad idea. An eververse driven greed fest

That VOG entrance. Travesty in D2. If they ever bring back my baby, Venus, bring it back the way it looked! Such a a sweet location. I hate Witch color palette. I wish it came like Dreadnaught. A massive thumb down on the graphic end. Let’s not talk about music… D2 music is a massive disappointment as well.

5 commentairesD2 does have a cartoon vibe compared to D1.
-
2 commentairesAll the adults from a driven original Bungie got run off. Now it's the woke brigade more concerned with plushies and incorporating forced inclusion.
-
Ngl I like the D2 art style a lot more.
-
3 commentairesSee the state of Shaw Han. Just basically Fortnite quality character art.

12 commentairesI don’t think this gets said enough Graphics don’t make a good game Gameplay makes a good game

2 commentairesD1 is really aging better then d2 at this point.

1 commentaireModifié par Sohsuh : 1/15/2023 5:36:04 PMDestiny 1 had much more realistic lighting. It just flat out looks better than D2. The waterfalls have sound, you can hear nature in the background, an ominous tone when you're on the moon, the running water in little rivers had sound, everything just looked more gritty and realistic. D1 was made for adults. It was more grounded, darker, and was incredible to look at. D2 however, went more cartoony/colorful. The lighting is awful in comparison. Waterfalls, rivers, etc have no sound. There's no ominous tone on the moon anymore. It just looks washed and way too bright. It lost all the realistic, dark, grittiness that D1 had. D2 is made for younger kids and it shows in how it looks compared to D1. D2 lacks the atmosphere and immersion that D1 had, and it's pretty sad honestly. D2 has no character it just looks so dull in comparison.

7 commentairesMust be part of Bungies "Beware of overdelivery" mentality.
-
yup, just the difference in leveling your classes and your guns to unlock skills/perks is vastly superior to d2. the game has just gotten so out of control from what it was supposed to be.
-
I wonder how much of the change is trying to keep file sizes down
-
2 commentairesD1 was far superior in many ways. D2 I didn't notice much of a difference at first but did after a while. Then, when Beyond Light came in I REALLY noticed it. Especially with the very obvious character change to our faces. I think the Exo's look nice. The metallic sheen is pretty. But the humans and Awoken definitely look far worse, far less detailed, and really ugly, IMO. It's like they over simplified the characters appearances, just like they did with the environments around us, and made them look so subpar. It's truly disappointing. For all the faults Activision may have, Bungie breaking from them was a bad idea. I think they were what was keeping Bungie in line and putting out proper gameplay design and ideas. It's really too bad.

4 commentairesModifié par NotCreative123 : 1/15/2023 10:41:01 PMThis is so dumb. Load up D1. Load up D2. It isn't even close. If for no other reason, D2's graphics are superior for the increased frame rates and resolution. Edit: And that's not even considering the FOV changes

1 commentaireHopefully, nobody is surprised that Bungie has been charging 3 star prices for microwaved food.

1 commentaireAs November puts it: The environments in D1 put off the illusion of places you could go even if you actually couldn't. Seeing the space station in the sky over the moon with the astral emissions winding through space was such a sight to see. And yeah, seeing the Leviathan in orbit is pretty cool, but there's just something missing. D1 Cosmodrome will never fail to absolutely awe me. It reminds me so much of a snowy January/February evening where winter is at its most desolate, barren state, but the setting sun showers everything across the fields and forest in beautiful shades of orange, yellow, and red. The ambient roars from the Fallen with the wind would add so much mystery, danger, and depth to the environment. I spend hours in the Cosmodrome, just as many as I spent outside on those snowy evenings. You all should check out the tunnel in the Summoning Pits! After defeating Phogoth, I'd always become entranced by the immensity of the cavernous tunnel. It looks good in D2, but still loses that mystery and intrigue from D1 due to how sharp and crisp everything looks.

Yeah but 30fps 🤮
-
1 commentairelmao really ? have you seen what the game looks like in pvp between D1 and D2 or everywhere else than those locations ? lmao don't be so gullible
-
Tbh who cares it’s just graphics as long as a game looks decent at best who cares if the core of the game is fun
-
D1 had self Rez D2 doesn’t that’s the difference :/
-
Graphics aren't what makes a game a AAA game so that last part is just frankly stupid, but yes, the graphics are subpar.
-
I'd sum it up as: They sacrificed "soul" for pixel count. They tried to make it more "realistic", but somehow lost the depth and "feeling" of the old design.
-
This is a great comparison. I didn't realize how different it was, but Destiny 2 always felt cartoony and D1 felt serious somehow like it had depth. I wish they would release D1 on PC.
