Trying to get back into the game but cannot recover my old account from microsoft

I have been wanting to get back into the game for years, but I just cannot get over the fact that I lost all of my progress from my original Xbox account. For back story,I played D1 heavily. Logged over 28 days of game-play and I didn't even play the game for the first 6 months it was out. After the amazing time I had in D1 excluding the last DLC (not a wrath of the machine fan), I started playing D2. Also very much enjoyed it, even with all the hate the game was getting, I could not stop playing. Leviathan to this day remains one of my favorite raids, and the story in the last wish was nothing short of legendary. After the first DLC however, I was forced to put video games down and entered the work force. 3 long years later when I tried to login for the first time to play the new Witch Queen expansion I was met with an account that need verification on Xbox. The email I used to secure the account had been deactivated for inactivity, and is now completely unrecoverable. I have tried for months to recover the account and microsoft is no help at all. I am making this thread to see if it possible to link my old xbox destiny account to my steam account so I can get the saved data and have all of my old materials/currency/exotics back. At this point I have very little time to play, and without recovering the almost 12 days of farming I had, I just cannot get back into the game. I have no way of accessing the xbox account I played on, but I know playtime/accountname and could maybe recall purchases I made.

  • To enable Cross-Save, you have to be able to authenticate each account. You can contact Microsoft to recover the account even though you have lost access to the email. You'll need to actually speak with Microsoft's support instead of just using the account recovery 'forgotten password' option, since that just sends the info to your email, which you said is no longer available.
