Cannot Get Past "Press Start" and Character Select Screens After Fatal Game Freeze

This Monday, I installed a second Nvidia 1080 Ti in my computer in order to try out Nvidia SLI, hoping for better performance in all my games, Destiny 2 most of all. To my disappointment, it didn't do what I thought it did - my ingame framerate did not tangibly improve past what it already was, and I was now encountering micro-stutters in all games that I couldn't seem to fix. Disappointed, I turned SLI back off in my Nvidia Control Panel and went back to playing Destiny 2 like I had previously, which wasn't that bad - as long as I kept Motion Blur and Depth of Field off, I could play the game at maximum settings at a near-consistent 85FPS at 2560x1080, which is already way better than most people on PC can do. The morning after I turned it off and decided to check out the game fresh after the weekly reset, I was in the middle of playing the new weekly seasonal mission. After going into the Moon lost sector, looting its chest, and starting to leave, Destiny 2 completely froze, something it hasn't done to me in years. Nothing would make it respond, so I force-quit the application and went to go play another game. When I came back and tried relaunching the game, I found that it will now never load past the Character Select screen; often before the preview of my top character even loads, the game freezes up again and has to be force-quit. I usually don't even get this far either, as more often, the game freezes after getting past the "Press Enter to Begin" screen, a few seconds after the loading icon appears in the bottom right. I have done just about everything I can think of so far to fix this issue. I've fiddled around with my Nvidia Control Panel settings. I've verified Destiny 2's files. I've moved Destiny 2's install folder between hard drives. I've deleted everything besides the "packages" folder and forced the game to redownload everything. I've performed a fresh install of the game from scratch. I've checked for driver updates. I reinstalled GeForce Experience and let it apply its "optimal" settings to the game. I even tried turning SLI back on to see if that was the trick. Absolutely none of this whatsoever worked, and only seemed to change how soon or late the game's fatal freeze happened (and never further than Character Select). I'm tired, desperate, and exhausted. This has been going on since Tuesday. My only options at this point are to install Destiny 2 on another device and play it there, and while I can, I want it to work on my main gaming computer again. Please, someone, anyone help me, because I feel like I'm losing my mind at this point. I want to just play some Destiny 2. Here are my computer's technical specs. If I need to provide any other information, please tell me and I'll try. Processor: Intel Core 17-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz (8 Cores) Installed RAM: 32 GB GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (x2, SLI available but disabled) System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
