...when are we actually getting any of it back? After hearing that next year pretty much all the old weapons are staying gone, AND more stuff is leaving, why bother with any activities if the rewards might be swept away later? just curious if maybe they actually have addressed this, and i just didn't find it anywhere. the only reason ive heard was something about filesize, which was ridiculous

Honestly bungie takes away dlc content that was purchased and sells “new” dlc content like it is an entire new game! Largest amount of money I have put into any single game.

We should sunset us spending money on destiny

after weapon crafting it wont matter
why bother with any activities if the rewards might be swept away later?
The fun of using them while they are relevant.
just curious if maybe they actually have addressed this, and i just didn't find it anywhere
Actually the game director back in the summer said they they are were looking into a lasting way to deal with the sandbox wtihout having to sunset...and didn't offer any specifics. Because this is basically a snipe hunt where Bungie is looking for a magic solution that has evaded the rest of the industry for a generation. They aren't going to find it. Bottomline, What you are pointing out as problems are just how loot games work. Which is why one of the biggest rules of loot gaming is "Never fall in love with the gear". Because, for the games to work over the long term, the developers have to take gear away from us, and power away from us....so we always have something new to chase, without breaking the game (power creep). The problem is that Bungie in many ways still doesn't know what they're doing where loot games are concerned. So they think they can just re-write the rules to suit their needs....and they can't. The rule that you can't keep givng players power forever, and let them hold onto to loot and keep it all relevant forever....isn't negotiable. If you mess with it you either destroy the game from power creep....or you destroy the game from boredom (no power to chase). So Bungie has resorted to having to essential sunset gear through nerfs. They let you keep the gun. But they take its power....break it over knee...then hand you back the pieces. So they can give that power to something else. Then at some point....they give the power back through buffs. So they basically wind up doing---in a clumsy and obvious way---what sunsetting (in well designed games) do smoothly and invisibly. And you aren't worrying about what you're losing, because the devs are adding so much new stuff that you're too busy chasing that to worry about what you're losing. Destiny players always focus on whats being taken away because the game never has enough loot, and Bungie has foolishly feed the notion that you can keep everything and keep it all relevant. You can't. Filesize? That's mainly about vaulting old content that isn't relevant. That's being done so that the game can continue to run on last gen hardware, which is still the bulk of the console market. Though the issue is mainly one of memory. Destiny is designed in a way that the game has to load all in-game object you might encounter into memory. So by the end of Shadowkeep, loading times were getting brutally long and the game performed poorly. Not just on base consoles, but even on PS4 Pro. I lost my -blam!- one evening and went and bought an outboard SSD after it took me SEVEN MINUTES one night just to load into the Tower.

Modifié par xbroggiex : 1/9/2022 2:50:44 AMI would at bare minimum expect some of the old content to be rotated back in starting with Final Shape, but I wouldn't be surprised if they decided not to return any of the originally vaulted content. The stuff I expect to be the most likely to return is the Leviathan raids(including crown of sorrow), Scourge and Zero Hour. Whisper might return if they somehow figure out how to just add in the parts it needs and not bring back the entire IO destination similar to VoG in D2 rn.

1 commentaireWeapons and armor were sunset. Destinations and activities are vaulted. https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/50124 https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049202971-Destiny-Content-Vault

Probably never. There isn’t an actually good explanation for why they’re doing this. Essentially it comes down to the game being fundamentally poorly coded in such a way that it can’t continually grow like every other MMO in existence. We suffer because they don’t want to fix it. It’s total incompetence from Bungie higher ups. This should’ve been a def com 1 situation where they hired on a ton of people to fix the game, but instead they chose literally the laziest most controversial option possible. I’d wager many devs on the team are incredibly disheartened by vaulting as well, seeing their hard work get erased from the live game so no one can enjoy it anymore. It’s entirely on bungie management who’s been known to fail in more ways than one, especially with all the dirt that IGN exposed.

Why bother doing anything, you're only going to die one day anyway. 🤷♂️
