Self righteous would imply that I have some self serving goal guiding my intentions. In the absence of self preservation growing up in schools I recall many times I saw classmates with disabilities getting bullied or even assaulted and I threw myself in front of them and took the beating instead, being complacent to wrongdoings for your personal convenience sake is nearly equally as guilty as the wrongdoer. I would personally die in place of someone else if I knew it would save them. The little things in life do matter, there are stories how one kind act stopped someone from ending it all. While I don't expect or think I can help or be there for everyone, and while I have limits on how much I can sacrifice before my own health fails, if I see someone being harmed in some way, I'll try to stop it, call it morale obligation, call it belief, call it self righteous if it suits your narrative, but I have my reasons. It's easy to shrug and say "internet" because anonymity gives people the idea their actions hold no consequences. Because of that, people callously cast aside anything that doesn't directly affect them and act cruelly towards others.
