I've said it a million times, i'll say it again. As great as SBMM sounds to players like you, it is literally not functioning in Destiny 2. The player population per platform, per game mode in pvp is simply not nearly high enough to support SBMM. People like me who actually are main pvp players have queue times of 10+ minutes with true SBMM turned on. If this games pvp had 10 times the player pop on the regular, i'd say yes, bring it in but like this? NO. Not only queue times are insane, after waiting for literally 15 minutes to finally get into a match, its the most laggy experience ever, because SBMM almost entirely has to ignore CBMM factors. I am from central Europe and played against south east asian players on the regular with SBMM. It was bad. On top of that every single match was a sweat fiesta. Please guys, think before posting outrages to bring SBMM back. This is not call of duty or apex or fortnite. SBMM already doesn't work in those extremely active pvp games most of the times, how can you expect it to work with this low pvp population in D2? smh. Also, we kinda have SBMM right now. It's called team balancing and already does what you are asking for to some degree. Will you have bad matches? Yes, suck it up, i have those too. Every player of any skill level has players better than them, just keep queuing up and i guarantee you that most of the matches will be playable for you. If you only play 1 or 2 matches, then quit and start crying on the forums, you could just have had bad luck on those 2 and the next 3 matches would have been fine.

  • Like OP I suck as well in PvP obviously making a lot of mistakes and hardly improving. I have played Crucible a ton this season, having reset rank maybe a dozen times. Yet I suck. I understand your arguments but yet I have zero understanding of why every single match I find myself in games with at least two, often up to five or six unbroken and flawless players. Yes, some games I land in the winning team but only cause one or two of the top slayers ended up in my team by chance. Some games are fun but many are incredibly frustrating. Put on top you can be matched against teams in Quickplay doesn't make it more fun. I had games where I - my random team - was matched against a 6-stack of all! Unbroken/Flawless players in Control, if anyone calls this balanced I don't know what. Please don't tell me you only see these guys once due to being mercies cause I was matched three times against this same sweat team, third one seeing them in the lobby I just left the game before starting. So bottom line, aside of (too small vs player numbers) maps, unbalanced weapons and abilities I do believe matchmaking should/can be improved.

  • It's a vicious cycle. By making PvP miserable for the bottom players, they leave. Then the next layer of people becomes the bottom and they leave. On and on until the Crucible population is on life support because matchmaking and connections are bad and no one wants to play anymore. Oh wait, kind of feels like where we already are... Hmmm...

  • Unfortunately I am only able to speak for myself and my experience and, to be honest, I have no idea what would or would not work, I am not a games designer and I can only say what I have said in the hope of having a debate and seeing if there is any consensus. Not that any consensus from the players is likely to motivate Bungie, even if consensus were possible. What is a positive is the remarkable amount of good advice i have received in this thread on how to improve, for which everyone has my thanks.

  • There is no team balance otherwise there wouldnt be blowout matches like there are currently. As far as your "sweaty" matchs that was on you. You chose to sweat those matches your could of played how you wanted but you didnt because you wanted to win. See you weren't intrested in "fun" matches you wanted easy matches like cbmm gives. See the only reason higher skilled players dont want sb is because they wanna win without the effort. See those other games switched to skill because they knew connection wasnt the way to go.

  • Team balancing is true too, I didn't notice many severe lopsides in my last session. But the game itself is just insane in general.
