Why make new when you can throw in D1 maps and call it fresh?

Because D1 crucible maps are pretty good.
-
it's a marketing ploy to entice new players into the game so they have to call cosmodrome new all though a seasoned player knew that it is a reprisal but it's mainly done for marketing reasons.
-
If those d1 maps happen to be combined arms ill take it. Js

All large games recycle content. This strategy is #1 new for new players, #2 nostalgic for long time fans/players, and #3 maximizing your resources in creating content. I mean you don't actually think that they can just click a button and a D1 map is D2 ready, right?
-
especially when it was nostalgic for both the legendary loot cave and for the grasp of Mallock farming the omnigul strike

Considering D2 uses the same engine and all the same developer tools as D1, it’s not as difficult as you may think. The crux of recycling content is when you rely too heavily on it and end up trying to pass off something as new when it’s mostly old. Shadowkeep is a prime example of this.

Regardless of the engine we have to take every single asset and bit of code and vet it, whenever we take old content into a new game. So this would include, every mesh, collision, texture (all layers and types), skymaps, events, triggers, scripts, animations, effects, etc, etc. And that is just for any one single area, rinse an repeat for each other area, or "map". You aren't starting from scratch, more like 10%, when you move old into new. Also how is Shadowkeep an example of that?
