Huh. Now I am vastly curious but slightly concerned. Should I research this or should I pretend I never read this post. Fascinating. Interesting.

Modifié par Speaker : 9/29/2020 7:19:58 PMSimply put you're already in the gaze of the basilisk. And you Cannot escape it. Would you prefer to remain in ignorant and forget... Or would you like to know more? Be warned though, the meme has negatively affected the mental health of those who took it too seriously.
-
Good thing I don't take anything seriously then!
-
So it's actually a pretty fascinating idea terrifying When you take the time to think it out. But in the end it's just a thought experiment.
-
Red or blue! What pill do I chose? I don’t know what is more terrifying, whatever lays behind the thought experiment or the fact that I chose ignorance. Or at least currently that it my choice. I can’t stop thinking about it though. I have always sought knowledge but yet when it confronted me I deny it! Why?
-
Do you suffer existential dread poorly?

Modifié par Warlock Holmes : 9/29/2020 7:33:43 PMOn the one hand I am deeply curious and you are furthering my curiosity. One the other hand I am terrible with horror things and may not have the greatest mental health to begin with. Not bad just not the greatest either. Here I find myself on a crossroad. Do I protect myself or do I continue to delve further into the search of knowledge which is one of my main goals. I could gather more information or I could be safer. Well safer in ignorance but I hate being ignorant. Truthfully this is a hard decision. I always wish to expand and learn all despite the boundaries of ignorance but sometimes a true ignorance is safer and I am just a mortal. Hmmm. Choices choices. Although I may have to decline any further information. Maybe.

There is no evidence it has ever adversely affected anyone's mental health, any more than those BS stories about haunted paintings and cursed images. The only people affected by such things are highly susceptible to suggestion due to very serious mental illnesses. It's a Creepypasta for futurists, physicists, robotics engineers and philosophers. If you're the haunted painting target type, or the type that thinks Slenderman is real, please get mental health treatment and the help you need (not being snarky).
-
Never said I was that. Nor did I say I believed in any of those things. Just taking precautions before researching something OP warned could be dangerous. I take my mental health seriously and when I am warned about something I am most likely to listen.

Modifié par MONKEYGOTRABIES : 10/1/2020 2:16:42 PMI've got social anxiety disorder, extreme PTSD, OCD, am on the spectrum, and I never gave it a second thought. Building up this mythic, urban legend bullshit about it being distressing, damaging, and dangerous is far more harmful than the thought experiment itself. The more it's misrepresented by guys like this, CP-type sites, and YouTube videos, the more likely it is to hurt someone when it finally reaches the wrong person. Slenderman was never real. Now two girls will spend half their lives locked up in a psych ward and a third has 19 thoracic scars and will be -blam!-ed up for life, so he might as well be.
-
You truly are a treat to read.
I've got social anxiety disorder, extreme PTSD, OCD, am on the spectrum
lol, ya don't say!!!
-
And there's the button. Make fun of the former serviceman with PTSD. It doesn't bother me. You think you're getting to someone that spent 6 years in a desert getting shot at? Baby boy, you're just proving how much of a garbage person you are. Bye.
-
Well if I had known you were a servicemen sooner I would have made a dead soldier joke sooner
-
And you call me a troll. Here's a thought experiment for you - isn't it remarkable what internet anonymity's personification of Plato's Invisible Ring has revealed about you? For the last time. Bye. I know you have an intense need to punish someone for shitting on your grasp at relevancy today, but since you're a waste of matter with a soul made of dead rats and demon feces, you won't get any more of the attention you so desperately need from me.
-
I dont know, you've told me "bye" before, and yet you're still here, you could mute me but that hardly befits your tough guy stance, clearly you were a soldier, because you can't resist my provocations that your just some clown on the internet, I'm sure you feel good about everything you did in the desert too and you were 100% for the reason you were there, how's that for a thought experiment? 😉 And don't worry I know I'm an asshole, its just funny watching you try to get the upper hand on me, I imagine you furiously typing at a keyboard, or feeling the ache of your thumbs as your hands betray your desire to just walk away... This ends when you mute me or walk away, chief.
