Now I understand that this is in part due to bungie’s peer to peer servers and I’m not expecting some amazing fix but I just want to draw attention to this problem. We’ve all been shot around the wall before and been ridiculously pissed about it because we know that it shouldn’t have happened. We see a sniper and go back into cover only to die while we’re staring at the wall. It’s a real problem (for me at least) and introduces a huge randomness to the game that I personally do not think should exist. For example, I like to use hand cannons mainly and confronted with the topic of auto rifles being op, people tell me to peek shoot because that’s how a hand cannon is meant to be used. However, most of the time, I’ll peek shoot but still die to the auto rifle or whatever gun it is that I’m facing because their bullets hit me around the wall. I just want to say, this post isn’t meant to complain about auto rifles. It’s the same with hand cannons. I’ll peek shoot and get off one shot while they get off two shots on me when they stand in the open. Again, I’m not expecting some instant, amazing fix because I understand that this is partly the fault of the engine that Bungie uses and how their servers work. Still, I just want to draw attention to this topic because I feel like it isn’t talked about much.
PS: I’d just like to reiterate that I’m just trying to draw attention to this topic and i do at least have a basic understanding of why it’s happening. Not really expecting a fix. Just want to put it on bungie’s list of things to look at

I think if all wespons had ZERO aim assist that would solve a lot of problems. Get rid of tracking also! Make it so you have to have skill to use your weapon of choice! Also no radar! That would reward stealth and situational awareness! Should all be bsised on player skill.
-
Yeah, it’s so common that I just keep shooting if you go behind a wall and usually get a kill.

Modifié par Demon_XXVII : 9/28/2020 2:41:20 PMIt’s all to do with that Hybrid Peer to Peer system (that allows everyone to be host, thus opening up everyone’s IP to sniffers/DoS etc) & Bungie’s 30Hz tick rate (10Hz on Ammo/Motes etc - ever run over Heavy, hit the retrieve & had someone just charge past and get it without stopping ?🤔🥴) Tick Rate - Swinging back and forth like a pendulum between 🅰️🔁🅱️ Always finding yourself on the wrong side of that swing ? Gunplay is frustrating, and mostly it's due to things that seem like bullsh*t (on your client), but can be boiled down to an exceedingly poor tick rate. For those who don't know, tick is how often the server syncs (pendulum) gamestate with the clients, and in general the higher the tick rate the higher the accuracy in gunplay due to more accurate user positions, fire rates, etc. For example, the standard matchmaking servers in CS:GO run on 60 tick, and the competitive ESEA private servers run on 128 tick. Most players who pay for access to those servers cannot go back to playing on lower tick, because the game just feels unresponsive to their inputs. Then there’s the Engine & Netcode - Throw in Each individual players Ping, Packet Routing, Jitter, Latency, CBMM, Cheating/Hacking & a dying playerbase stretching geolocations from where those ‘rounds’ are ‘fired’ (yeah Bungie, I should never pair up against New Zealand & Indonesia!) Destiny can’t cope with all that mess! CoD MW had (still has) 12Hz/22Hz Player Host Servers in regular matches (now has + 60Hz dedicated servers in Custom Games) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FupPZPLgx6M

Its so much fun popping out, firing off a couple rounds, ducking behind a wall, and watching that high powered sniper round go through the wall into my face. Good times, fun times. I find that laggers are often part of large fireteams. The Fireteam Leader may be in the same part of the world as me, but half his team is located in Germany, Australia, Hawaii, etc.

My latest pet peev is the invader killing me with Xeno before Drifter announces there's an invader incoming. I'm dead.. THEN the screen gets that red tint 🙄 PvP is jus a laggy pub stomp mercy mess.
-
I've shot at an enemy titan just to see him go into cover. A split second later I'm dead by that titan but I don't see him. A fraction of a second later that titan appeared out of cover. Working as intended lol
-
I don’t think it’s just latency, I think there is and has been something wonky about how a guns hit box interacts with certain static geometry.
-
Imagine all this as well as playing on an xbox in Japan. Good times...
-
That’s because of all the latency because bungie does not have servers at all. An it is because of peer to peer connections. That’s the problem with the game or at least half the problem.

I dont play alot of pvp but have definitely noticed being shot around corners happens when I'm thrown into a lobby with people from all over the world. For instance, I'm in New Zealand, and I recall a game recently where I was matched with South Americans and Japanese in the same lobby and the game was an absolute nightmare. I could literally watch bullets pass straight through walls and solid objects as if they weren't even there. It seemed as though I was being 1 hit killed alot, and trying to get away was impossible when the bullets were going through the walls. On my screen I would easily make it around a corner to safety, but then would still die and my ghost would appear 20 feet back in the open lol I put it down to horrendous lag because the lobby was filled with players based so far apart from each other....
-
I thought this was nonsense, but yesterday I experienced the same thing. I guess it has something to do with the P2P
-
Ever since they became a solo company, the gameplay has been very poor. Live gameplay is glitchy, loading is slow, matchmaking is bad, and all kinds of BS happen in pvp. But this is the experience bungie gave us.
-
You probably already know this but, it is possible to see through walls using the Truesight perk on the Hunter’s exotic gauntlet Khepri's Sting or the Truesight perk on the Wish Ender bow.
-
That's those new high caliber "Smart bullets" very effective as there is literally no chance to escape them.
-
At least walls cant push you off/physics you
-
Wouldnt be too distressed about it; likely connection problems. Try switching from wifi to ethernet cable.
-
Earlier today I saw a titan rushing me. I turned the corner and jumped away (stompies) only to get shoulder charged from 30 feet away and my orb ended up back at the corner. It's the hit registration we live with. Just understand you probably get just as many kills like that so accept it and move on. Game isn't competitive enough to care about
-
Lucky, I would be excited if Angelina Jolie shot me
-
it isn't talked about much
That's because it is all we talked about for literal years. Nothing changed. It isnt going to change. So now....no one cares and we view it as well that's Destiny
-
Well...stop getting shot around walls then
-
Being shot around a wall of text?
-
Sounds like 30 FPS :()
-
I used to be a badass guardian like that once. But then I took a few bullets to my knee.
-
Destiny's peer to peer + my At&t 18 Mb/s DL & 1 Mb/s UL speeds = shīte most of the time (fastest package I can get in my tiny Midwestern town, until this summer {supposedly}) That's on the very best day, before I hit At&t's 22 Gb download wall, with their unlimited plan, and they throttle my speeds down to nothing. After that, it's just best impossible to play. Playing Destiny for even just 2-3 hours a day gets me to that wall in just a couple of days. I have fun with it for those first couple days after the count starts over, but afterwards, it just really isn't worth it. I just end up b!tching the whole time I play, because of stuff like you're talking about.
-
I’ve been shot behind cover before lol

Modifié par Dubufu : 9/29/2020 12:05:44 AMAim assist statistics which can be upgraded, strong bullet magnetism, barely functioning engine, and peer to peer connections. Do the math. It's been like this since the beginning. What makes you think they will fix it now?
