I have played this game for years and of all the things it had to offer, fast movement, in particular sword skating, has been one of the things I enjoyed the most. Now that it has been removed, I am finding myself struggling to stay engaged with the game. The thing that really frustrates me about this change is that sword skating has worked now for almost 6 years and not once has Bungie ever mentioned that they thought it was a problem. All 3 of the characters in Destiny 2 have a lot to offer, but I chose to main warlock because of how much I enjoyed sword skating and specifically worldline skating. I understand when bungie fixes some glitches when they hurt players' experience or are unfairly rewarding; however, worldline does not fit into either of those categories. Worldline Zero allowed players to move quickly, that's all. It doesn't hurt other players when you move quickly in pve, and using it in pvp forces you to give up both your exotic slot and your heavy slot. On top of that, most crucible maps are very small, so moving as quickly as worldline allows you to would probably result in you slamming into a wall and dying. Moving quickly doesn't give you any rewards aside from the enjoyment you may derive from it, so skating certainly isn't unfairly rewarding. This leads me to wonder why worldline and skating as a whole were nerfed. From the information I have now, the only thing the skating nerf accomplished was making the game less fun for people who enjoyed worldline, and did not affect other players in any way whatsoever. After investing so much time and effort into the franchise, I really want to continue playing Destiny 2, but from my experience so far without skating, I'm not sure if I will. I hope bungie will either put skating back to how it had been, or at the very least explain why the decision to remove skating was made.

Modifié par Prae : 5/1/2020 8:17:08 AMReading some of the replies here gives me a headache. People don’t seem to understand that while the sword changes are somewhat good, Bungie intentionally singled out warlock glide being disabled after a sword swing. Also calling skating a glitch/exploit is a joke if I ever heard one
-
It was used as an exploit. It was used in a way never intended. It broke/bypassed game mechanics. It broke/bypassed encounters. It. Was. Never. Intended. To. Work. That. Way.
-
Simple. Hunters and Titans couldn’t do it that’s why. Thats why they removed Titan Skating. Only Titans could do it. The game and classes are balanced around a certain perimeters and I think warlocks pretty much crushed those with world line and sword skating.
-
They removed it because it allowed players to go faster than the developers intended the player to go and designed the environment around. Everything in the game was scaled with this intended speed in mind so for there to be a way for players to move unnaturally fast kinda breaks the game especially activities with mechanics that are supposed to force teamwork, not warlocks flying all over the place doing everything. Anyways, that's my best guess. They said something really similar to that when D2 launched and players were complaining about the removal of Titan skating and they said the same thing when they removed speedy dawnblade skating. The game is built around players being able to move at a certain speed. Anything that breaks this balance is removed.

because shut up

Worldline made you able to skip multiple stages of raids and dungeons. It wasn't "just speed" anymore. Also the fire sword super was "secret" OP.
-
Really of all the reasons tho... sword skating not being a thing is what I'd causing your interest to dwindle lmao.now I've heard it all
-
Bungie and "valid reason" shouldn't be in the same sentence.
-
Power creep. Apparently that is the reason for everything getting tuned down. Rewards Damage dealt Time playing - can't go too fast, server architecture can't handle the speed man. Vendors removed from the game Eververse full stocked. Terrible content Terrible lead director Etc..... It's all about the power creep. You know, in the game you are never really powerful. Unless you DPs a boss to fast, then you just get booted to orbit.
-
From what i understand , though i might be misunderstanding or wrong, when sword changed to energyinstead of ammo it wouldve broken world record speed runs or something along those lines.
-
Instead of Bungie removing sword skating from the game, they should of just fixed the areas where people could skip entire jumping puzzles. But that’s more work for Bungie and more fun for us, so there’s no way they would’ve done that.
-
Because it was fun and that sets a bad precedence. If you have fun with one part of the game, you expect the rest that the game offers to be of a similar "degree of fun". Destiny 2 is kind of broken in that regard; some things are fun and some mechanics are REALLY not fun. The "degree of fun" you had with Worldline skating set JUST how un-fun other parts of the game really are in perspective. That's why it had to be removed; to better mask the obvious design flaws and signs of actual incompetence that this game has.

Modifié par Dragunov1987 : 3/29/2020 3:02:01 AMThe reason is pretty simple: "It was fun". Same reason applies to everything on this game, really. It's fun? Get nerfed. Edit: About the "bungie fixes some glitches when they hurt players' experience or are unfairly rewarding"... Yeah, well... Spire still have the "mute glitch" since launch, mod menus are extremelly laggy, Forges still have the issue where you join a forge with no players and 20 seconds left, Garden of Salvation musci still stops without reason and comes back whenever it wants, a plethora of disconnect errors since the start of the season (not to mention bluescreen crashes on PS4)... and those are only to name a few glitches that are still on the game... Of all those, sword skating doesn' seem like a "Top priority".

It’s really annoying it was so fun when I could go 700mph as a warlock with worldline but fun is outlawed in the current state of the game so they had to get rid of it
-
Modifié par Rogueseiferv2 : 3/29/2020 3:48:14 AMIt was fun and bungie don’t like their customers having fun
-
I enjoy swords now I like the changes to blocking doesnt use ammo and some of the damage perks they r in a good spot.
-
Yeah, out of literally all the issues in the game, they go after something that literally zero people complained about?
-
Bro. Tab. Use it.
-
Here, I'll explain why they removed it. *ahem* "zoom zoom too fastly"
-
because they want to lengthen player times. If you can speed run it, that’s not good.
-
Simple thing sword skating should of never been removed it was a positive thing to have in game removing it the way they did was targeting speedrunners yes it was a glitch that wasn’t intended but shouldn’t of been on the game for 6 years
-
I really miss it bro ;-; I never even had a chance to say goodbye

Modifié par YonaRulz : 3/29/2020 12:23:21 PMIt would help get your point across if you reinstate paragraphs
-
same reason why titan skating was disbled people don't like when you faster then them
-
And in those 6 years no one ever really used swords for anything but skating. Be upset with Bungie’s movement system, not that you can’t use what’s supposed to be a weapon to circumvent it now. Swords are actually great to use as SWORDS now. It was a good change.
