Do Streamers represent the community?
So we’ve heard the news on the nerf. A lot of us are 50 50 about it as shown in other polls. As you can easily guess? I don’t agree with it one bit personally having played all 3 classes.
Disclaimer: I wish no misfortune upon Datto, I have watched his content until recently but I have friends who watch his content still. I speak with them and discuss things. He is a streamer and a destiny content creator and this post may as well be free real estate for him. Coding, designing a raid or anything else is a difficult task. I’ll acknowledge that. This community will find ways to break the game once again and this cycle will repeat. I don’t like Datto, but that’s just me. You’re free to your own thoughts. Datto himself speaks for his community as it’s been said repeatedly in the comment section below. Datto merely said something I disagree with, that’s a difference in opinion. Remember, streamers are people and are human.
Personally I don’t even agree with this nerf playing all 3 classes and someone who knows streamers most definitely represent their communities. Within Respect I know we’re very very much conflicted on what we want. we’re people and that’s how it ends up being. By this point I’m mostly curious. I’m genuinely unhappy with it but as I said? Coding and AI are hard to make decent. I’ve already done the song and dance with balance and game breaking things. There’s a lot of room for discussion. I know the streamers mention a lot of things, Bungie listens to them. Try to be somewhat civil because I won’t try to insult him; if I recall Datto admits he wants the game to be harder and he’s on the elite side of the community. I’ll still play the game during Shadowkeep. but I do feel like warlocks and titans are now closer to being useless.
Edit: This post was edited heavily. I expect the poll votes to change heavily. I am slow, not stupid. This post is quite literally a literal hellhole where everyone apparently can speak freely. I like being civil, I’m human after all.
Remember, I speak for myself. I don’t speak for the community so don’t misconceive me as trying to do so.

No, he does not in any way portray my views on Destiny franchise. I play the GAME for fun. He plays the GAME for money and a metric of self worth. Nothing right or wrong with either of these - they’re just very different.

No, but he does speak for a good portion of it. There’s a reason people have subscribers, etc. To say they don’t is ignorance and turning a blind eye. You don’t speak for the community either. The nerf was needed, or else activities would keep getting more and more chaotic, like the Reckoning was. You can’t cheese bosses anymore with grenade launchers and (almost) infinite DPS, so what? Is that really the game breaker for you? We all did just fine before LF came into the game and we’ll be just fine without the perk.

Datto only represents the hardcore side of the community. The casual players never get represented because....well they don't dump as much time and money into the games. It does not help that datto and other content creators appear in twabs and bungie streams. If they had their own staff appearing in them more then i think people will enjoy them more because noone is given special treatment. After all content creators are people like you and me, they just spend alot more time on games then others and should be treated like normal humans. I don't care if they are billionaires they should not be given special treatment over the general community

8 commentairesWho cares. It was a change that needed to happen. PvE is so easy I play it to help me fall asleep. PvE is nothing but running past everything. Get to the boss. Pop Luna well or barricade and spam spike grenades for about a second. I mean seriously. I can't remember the last time I went through any of the strike mechanics. There was life before rally and Luna Wells. There will be life after. And there will still be ways to easily melt bosses. Spike nades aren't getting nerfed. Still have buffs and debuffs. I will say Luna factions need a rework after this nerf otherwise just another shit exotic. Bleh.

Every single time there are major meta nerfs people complain. Last season most complains were targeted to Datto and popular streaming community in general. The funny thing is that [b]in the end everyone will be ok with changes[/b]. [i]Whisper got nerfed? Darci and GL got more love. Tether pants got nerfed? [u]People still use it.[/u].[/i] Every single time there is a nerf there is a buff too. In the end the game can just become easier in some aspects and harder in others. Its just change of meta. If meta wouldn't change everyone would get bored eventually, because using the same guns over and over and killing all the [b]End Game[/b] content easily just becomes dull and meaningless.

But datto makes one video that coincidentally came out a few days before a blog post and they're changing stuff because he wanted it? You're a -blam!- if you believe that.

1 commentaireI find it funny how people are so mad about this, but here in the states, this is exactly how our government works. Meaning most people care more about being misrepresented by a streamer regarding a video game, than a politician about the rights and laws regarding where they live. Like, does anyone even care or know who their two representatives are in the Senate? This may all seem irrelevant, but this is how the world works. Millions of people can't just continually take polls to make decisions for everyone. Datto does in fact speak for people, whether he likes it, we like it, or Bungie likes it, he speaks for people. It's easier for 1 to represent 100,000 than for 100,000 to represent themselves.

Streamers and big youtubers don't represent the community, for sure, and for me it's irritating to see their names in TWABs and Director Cuts since it shows their opinion means a lot to Bungie (or that Bungie overestimates their importance for the majority of Destiny 2 players). BUT Blaming Datto for these nerfs? That's nonsense. It is pretty obvious that these mechanics cause a number of problems, including those that make content even harder than it should be. And Bungie knew about it from the beginning.

I feel there's a push from both sides: More challenge (the streamer side) More quality of life (community) (IMO) But that isn't even the problem. The problem is the replay-ability. In D1 you could earn all the raid stuff, you could run endless strikes to get your god roll armor or weapon and yet there was still way more to do. The vendors reset weekly making completing activities and saving currency meaningful for when that week came with the weapon you wanted. Then you had factions all year round. I spent months doing factions, even calculating motes of light exchange for pledges. You had trials, as much as I hate it, but it did give you something to look forward to every Friday to Monday whether it be "bounties only" or "lets get a flawless card". (IMO) With D2 when you're done, YOU ARE DONE. There is absolutely no incentive whatsoever to carry on. PS If they want more challenge Kuros's Charm Demon Bell run on Sekiro is awaiting all of them.

He does not represent everyone. I agree with some of his ideas and thoughts, but I also disagree with other. He is a hard core player, so his opinions are going to be geared towards that.

I am finding it far less fun each time they nerf us so we feel far less powerful.

I'm sure the Casual Player Base enjoys them but since everyone complained that D2 Y1 was too casual, now we're moving to the other end. The game is slowly going to become Hardcore, the way it should've always been. Enjoy Easy Mode folks, cuz those days are numbered. And no; Datto doesn't speak for the Community. He just has the largest voice earned over years of staying with the series.

2 commentairesYes he does. There are very few things that he says that I personally don’t agree with. However my actual point is that no ONE represent the entire community. Even these forums are a mess with people disagreeing on everything in the game. Bottom line is that destiny is at its best when there is grind and fun/ exciting content to do. Destiny has gotten to easy for most content. The gear has become boring. The rewarding feeling of getting good loot from difficult content is gone. Raid gear is a joke, and it’s the only PVE activity that requires any type of effort or concentration. I believe everyone needs things in the game for their needs. I like that I can log in and get so many powerful drops and such by myself or in match made activities. However ther needs to be more content at the ceiling, and there needs to be more long term investment rewards. No one has to do or have everything in a game, but if people still want to play after 100’s of hours, why not give them something too?

Datto or the elite group of people admittedly never said they represented us, only their own interests in how they want the game to be. Can't blame them if Bungie reveres them as Gods and takes their words as gospel.

3 commentairesHere is the real problem.....its not the gun, armor, or abilites......Of course Datto doesn't see it that way....... This is the result of a lack of creativity on Bungies raid dev's. It's been the same basic raid processes since D1: Shoot the boss, do a dance, jump on a plate in some kind of order, shoot something in order, and kill the glowing guy to get the boss's shield to drop and then DPS him while he is standing in the same place and unless he is stomping on you he...….NEVER MOVES. Because he never moves wells, bubbles, lunafaction, barriers, etc all work so bungies typical response is to Nerf it and hardcore PVE community thinks its a great idea so there is no 1 phase. How about make a raid boss actually do something other than stand in one place like a dumb shit waiting to be shot in the face and occasionally shooting back while guardians are flying all over the place doing some stupid puzzle to make the boss vulnerable???
