[I don’t see how one is less fun than the other, they are both filled to the brim with stale content, only furthering their mediocrity.]
-
Closer to fair crucible with challenging heroic strikes that could drop strike specific loot without the nightfall, ways to boost the drop rate for exotics, unique exotics that had strange niches other than ad clear or boss damage, perks on weapons that could be used other than just 3, competing weapons for viability, supers that were strong when optimized and not just one block to choose from, all weapons were useful and had spots in the meta in pvp or pve sometime, trials, multiple crucible game modes that involved mechanics that needed teamwork, large patrol areas where you needed to explore and had many secrets, good infusion costs, free full body shaders, factions that were always around, bounties that always gave powerful gear and reset daily, collectibles like calcified fragments, long exotic quest that were challenging, every class was completely viable in each activity, cosmetic rewards that didn't outnumber earn able drops in the dlc, ways to earn cosmetics in game without pay or dumb grinding for levels, etc
-
[what about dlc for D1 that gave less than its D2 counterparts? What about the fact that the exotic shards were a pain in the ass to get? What about the fact that the lfg for anything was far worse as you were often requested to have the rarest weapon in the game? Both are mediocre games, neither is better than the other. Why don’t you take off the rose-tinted lense?]
-
In what way did D1 give less? Literally all of D1's raids are better than all of D2s. D1 is a far better game even if you personally like D2 more. There was a thread the other day in which D1 was voted substantially over D2. There are no rose tinted glasses, that's just an ignorant remark. There's a reason the player base evaporated in D2.
-
[how about the fact that for the first two dlc for D1 the missions were just existing game missions and strikes in reverse? How about he fact that there were less gun types to -blam!- around with? What about fast travel, lost sectors, the dungeon we have, better class specialization, the existence of a story, in-game lore, no weapons so overpowered that every lfg is looking for it despite how rare it is, ho about he fact that this games playerbase didn’t drop so low after the third dlc that they began working in a sequel? How about all of that? Or is that all downgrades from D1? I already had this discussion with the other guy, and we ended our conversation on fair terms. Why don’t you explain to me why D1 is superior? Seeing as from my point of view based on evidence an statistics is that they are both mediocre in their own way.]
-
Taken king with raid, multiple exotic quest, reworked light system, massive new light cap, most changes we've ever had and was arguably the best ever. Forsaken added features the original game had at launch like random rolls and an end game. Exotic shards are the equivalent to enhancement cores and neither are fun to grind for but in D1 you could buy several with strange coins and not waste 1/2 of your currency for a vendor (spider). LFG is also bad now where most requirements say Luna's or another gun that people are trying to get. Very mediocre games but one was superior to the other. I play both on a weekly basis and have more fun playing with my little cousin who I bought D1 for after he played D2 and he enjoys more D1 than D2, he has no rose tint, he didn't about D1 until I showed him. Its not nostalgia when you still play both games and have fun on both.
-
[well, I’m saying you have a rose-tinted lens. I haven’t seen a single raid lfg looking for guys with LH or NF. Both, are mediocre. Each has an equal amount of strengths and weaknesses and preference such as the one you describe will influence opinion. I’ve played both, D1 first because I got it before D2 was even a concept in people’s minds, and I can say both are equal piles of crap with gold in them. Your cousin and his opinion won’t change that.]
-
Mediocre guns, pinnacle weapons, one of the lowest ttk, 3 shot. Are we talking about the same guns or not. Opinions are opinions and i've played since dark below and have had massive fun even through drought. From what I see you just have a brown-tinted lens.
-
[i don’t wear any lense. Dark below was meh, CoO was barely better. HoW was decent, Warmind was passable. Taken king added an actually new area and messed with how people play the game, forsaken did that and then some. April update was a great temporary solution to content drought, annual pass is a shitty long term solution. D1 story was almost nonexistent, D2 has a story with a misused villain. One of them has a decent method of balance with bad maps, while the other has terrible balance with decent maps. It balances out. Neither of the two are good or bad, just the public view. I suppose that D1 has a few debatably “better” aspects, but so does D2. Both games are mediocre, get over it and move on with your life.]
-
What aspects does D2 have that could be better, just wondering what you think?
-
[aside from the mod system, set bonuses (a more recent development), more weapons to use, clamber, planetary vendors, and an actual story, no. But you guys tend to shoot those down and bring up everything in D2 that you see as “worse” than D1. Oh yeah, I almost forgot fast travel, public event markers, adventures, an actual raid vendor, a tank, in-game lore access, more efficient class/subclass specialization, lost sectors, and a dungeon. Everything I’ve listed wasn’t in D1, and is therefore better. Remind me again, what makes D1 far superior?]
-
Fast travelling makes people lose a connection to the world and not see what the developers made unless you go out of you way for the longer route. Public events are boring and useless, adventures are like worse re-playable missions, The raid vendor became useless after leviathan became useless, he was barely used for anything except a good weapon or a set completion. A tank is used in 1 raid and less than 2 missions in game. In game lore access that 90% of people still don't read. More efficient subclass customization at the trade off of freedom and weird build that were fun and effective. Lost sectors that are never used unless a quest or weapon requires them. Black spindle was a pretty close activity to a dungeon and we still only have 1 that is too easy and only played for light if its in a new power increase or a ship. D1: Closer to fair crucible with challenging heroic strikes that could drop strike specific loot without the nightfall, ways to boost the drop rate for exotics, unique exotics that had strange niches other than ad clear or boss damage, perks on weapons that could be used other than just 3, competing weapons for viability, supers that were strong when optimized and not just one block to choose from, all weapons were useful and had spots in the meta in pvp or pve sometime, trials, multiple crucible game modes that involved mechanics that needed teamwork, large patrol areas where you needed to explore and had many secrets, good infusion costs, free full body shaders, factions that were always around, bounties that always gave powerful gear and reset daily, collectibles like calcified fragments, long exotic quest that were challenging, every class was completely viable in each activity, cosmetic rewards that didn't outnumber earn able drops in the dlc, ways to earn cosmetics in game without pay or dumb grinding for levels, etc

[you used the same arguments you did before, almost like it’s your only argument. Is this a correct analysis? You underestimate how many people actually read the lore. You are overestimating how many people actually care about the views. Oh yeah, and let’s not forget the fact that if D1 was as good as you say it is they wouldn’t have seen a need for a sequel.]
-
Sequel was forced out by Activision to ride on the casual wave on a game that just got its identity. Same arguments because that is what is better about D1 than D2. People don't read more than one set of lore before just watching a video from byf or someone else. I have to do a presentation at my school for the science fair, adieu. Nice debate btw, good points
-
[seriously? You’re tapping out? That just shows you know the flaws in your own points. I think it’s fair to say we should stop using activison as a scapegoat for that, as they wanted a sequel every year, like with their now shitty franchise Call of Duty. I’m not saying they were in the right, they probably caused some of the shittier stuff in he game to happen. But bungie likely pushed out the sequel as they did to see if they could improve, and in their eyes maybe they did. I saw the player counts by the time rise of iron came out, destiny as a franchise needed another game or it was gonna die. People like you never admit that.]
-
They did want a sequel, i'm in the car and need to present. If you care enough to debate you should care enough to believe what other people say and act graciously if you think you won the debate. Good points, adieu
-
[good luck with the presentation. I was only continuing because I don’t exactly like my debate partners just running away. I can’t look too good now.]
-
Thanks, good debate and points, really made me think more which is what it should do
-
[great, again I will wish you good luck with your science fair.]
