Since the launch of forsaken and the switch shotguns made from the power to the special slot, i’ve started using slug shotguns more often, namely a good bone structure that rolled with accurized rounds and a range masterwork.
After about 2 weeks using it in the crucible i can tell you without a doubt that it is.
Disappointing.
Nothing quite kills the enjoyment for a gun than learning firsthand that the maximum range you can kill a guardian with a headshot using a slug shotgun is the same as a dust rock.
It feels like I’m going crazy when a gun that is supposed to kill from longer ranges than its spreadshot counterpart is actually weaker at those ranges than other shotguns.
It honestly feels like bungie forgot that slug shotguns existed and gave them a fat dicking they have yet to recover from.
Since the initial launch of D2 there have been 5 total precision frame slug shotguns added to the game, and one of them is blue.
Maybe other slugs have better stats and they’ll do better, but, i’ll remind you, the bone structure i have rolled with range equivalent to the unification VII, the slug shotgun with the highest range stat out of all of them, and moving target. On my best days where i’m doing my absolute best, i can just barely compete with dust rock no brain slide monkeys.
Chaperone is the only precision shotgun i find able to compete with the others, and, i might be crazy here, it might have something to do with its maxed out range stat and the perk that increases its range after a kill.
Real diverse game you’ve got going here bungo.
Crossing my fingers at least one guy on the other team has some originality next time.

i got a good bone structure with light mag, rifled barrel, quickdraw, snapshot, and a range masterwork from the gunsmith and decided to use it in crucible just for fun. maxed out the masterwork, put on an icarus grip mod, and tried it out with dire promise. after around 200 kills with it i can pretty safely say it’s fun to use but it is not that good. it feels like it has even less range than dust rock despite requiring a precision shot which makes no sense. i took it off for a couple games and used my retold tale instead and found myself doing a lot better. it was less fun but i was more confident in my shotgun fights. they definitely are in need of a buff.
