Now before I say my opinion on the topic I just want to make it clear, I love forsaken it’s the best destiny has been since age of triumph, which is when destiny was at its best (if you say that some other period was better, take those rose tinted glasses off). That being said, don’t come back unless you have people to play with or if you don’t mind using lfg, while the game is nicer to solo players they tend to hit the walls a lot faster than people who have a group to run with. If you have a group or are ok with lfg, then hell yes come back, there’s a ton to do, gambit, while it may have its fair share of issues (that I won’t get into here) is still really fun, the city is hands down the best destination in the destiny series, the story is still going despite it being over 2 months since forsaken dropped. PvP is a shit show but if you play the game for fun and not to be a sweaty try hard PvP is a blast it’s basically the HoW meta (my personal favourite meta) there’s pinnacle weapons that are a pain to grind for but are worth it because they’re insanely powerful. Exotics while they may be scarce actually feel exotic again, the raid imo is the second best raid in the series right behind wrath. We have the dungeon, random rolls, amazingly fun supers (even though certain space wizards have the best ones). There’s triumphs and seals to chase after akin to the triumph book in age. It’s far from perfect, the PvP matchmaking is a mess right now, red bar warriors everywhere, ddos seems to happen a lot in comp (I personally haven’t had any attacks happen to me so I can’t confirm) elitism is probably the worst it’s ever been (yes even worse than ttk days) like I said up above, gambit is fun but it has its fair share of issues, although a lot of them are tuning issues. Powering up for most people will be an issue so if you come back make sure you understand the different soft caps as well as the different milestone caps to maximize your power gain. Again like above, exotics aren’t dropping like candy like they did in year one (buddy of mine hasn’t gotten a forsaken exotic since week one just for a reference point of how scare they are) however that also makes it feel a lot like year 1 of D1 that feeling of getting that exotic to drop. While all the new supers are fun, a fair few are underwhelming specifically the titans. So if you’re not dissuade by the negatives I listed there and don’t care about being a solo player it’s well worth it to come back.

If you liked vanilla/ttk D1 yea. The game is the best its ever been, but it has it issues as usual. If you play PVP expect to get shit on until you get the new weapons.
