General Destiny 2: Forsaken Feedback

As mentioned in the TWAB today, we are going to be making some feedback threads to help us track the community’s thoughts on the current state of the game, and what direction you want to see it move in. This first one is a wildcard. Tell us… whatever you want. Here are a few prompts, but feel free to write whatever. We will be back soon for some more targeted discussions. What have you liked most about Destiny 2 post Forsaken? What would you like to see changed in the future? What would you like to see added?

  • Fix scout rifles. Exotics Scouts are in such a poor place why would anyone go for the Mida Catalyst. Hand Cannons outdo these things at range, so do most pulse rifles. Bungie has destroyed Scouts completely. You say you've rebuffed them after doing a nerd which you tell nobody about (effectively lying to your player base) this should have been included in a TWaB. More transparency around what you fiddling with.

  • What have you liked most about Destiny 2 post Forsaken? -The versatility of loot and exotics that you guys introduced for Forsaken - The secrets and hidden items that are time-gated or by chance (Whisper, Malfeasance, Thunderlord etc.) - Legendary Weapon Ornaments were great, hope for more when Black Armory is out, and other Annual Pass expansions. What would you like to see changed in the future? - each expansion was built on main characters of the vanguard and their upbringing, how about more quest-line and story-line on Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, New Monarchy. I know you guys have The Drifter set in place for the Annual Pass. (Alluding to D1's No Time To Explain quest and others) -New enemy types and new elemental classes ( new elements) - More roaming supers for hunters What would you like to see added? - I think I'm with everyone when they say "One Hit Kill" for Hunter compared to Titans and Warlocks - Queens Wrath weapons from D1 re-amped for D2 ( Like how we had to acquire blueprints and what not for Ace of Spades) - Icons for "Hidden vendors" in the Dreaming City ( after you purchase from them the first time) - Having more swords like Quickfang and new perks such as brief invisibility, or Blink like the World Line Zero - More Bows, crossbows maybe? - More vehicles ( other than Sparrows) to ride in/ take over or Sparrows with blasters - Dual wield for side arms and swords (Jk) - Ship loading screen mini-game ( for those who have longer loading)

    • Once again I have to ask why does a single player have to constantly play against fireteams? Shouldn't you guys be doing something about MATCHMAKING

    • This is my second post , there is to much lag in pvp and People in my team are always getting ddos-ed in comp , we need dedicated servers!!

    • Also, what is up with the intens punishment for playing well in Comp? After 2 matches of 20-something kills and +5 KAD I always, and I mean always, get put into loosing matches. Come on, 1 step forward and 2 steps back is supposed to be a saying, not a mechanic.

    • Please reduce flinch or buff the unflinching perk, currently it's all but impossible to win a duel against flinch unless you also have flinch. Also, pvp lag is worse than it's ever been, for people outside the US, since vanilla D1 (besides the first time lag-switching was discovered) So please, for the love of The Nine, add dedicated servers!

    • Reduce heavy spawn in comp, and please please please do something about the lag in PvP.. dedicated servers would be the way to fix that.

    • Hey guess what? Just played six games of gambit and won one. Would you like to know why? Playing against 3 man fireteams in five of them and I am by myself. Why do I have to constantly play against fireteams in gambit and crucible when playing by myself? Really need to fix the matchmaking

      Most of my complaints revolve around Crucible, specifically competitive. This is not exhaustive by any means, but here we go. 1. Reduce heavy ammo frequency in competitive. It removes elements of skill-based gameplay. It's really not fun to be engaged in a gun battle that you're likely to win then get hit with a rocket. While I'd be fine with seeing no heavy ammo in competitive, I think far, far less frequency would be beneficial to the overall experience. 2. Spawning. This has been an issue since day 1, and I'm really disappointed to see it still here. Little in PvP makes me angrier than spawning into a super, a rocket/grenade, or sword swing. Is the only solution here to redesign all of the maps to have spawn rooms? I don't know. 3. Do something about Titans and shoulder charge. While I vehemently oppose the decision to make it a one-hit kill again, I'm more so opposed to Titans getting a damage resistance buff while in the animation. Anecdotal evidence, yes, but I've shot three Titans with a SHOTGUN (within their melee range and I have a good range stat on my shotgun) and they survived only to bash me and kill me. I realize that Hunters are exceptionally under-powered since we don't have any one-hit kill options (which even Voidlocks have now), but come on. This isn't a fun experience. And while some might just say, "Play a Titan," my Redrix and Luna quest progress are on my Hunter and since those don't transfer between characters.... 4. Super armor. This one really bothers me. Roaming supers shouldn't be [i]so[/i] damage-resistant. A hammer Titan shouldn't be able to survive a shotgun shot and a grenade from Play of the Game, only to kill both combatants and keep going. Also, what's with the new Voidlock super lasting so long even when warping constantly? I've heard even Voidlocks say that super is quite overpowered for PvP. 5. Arcstaff reflection. This one is weird, but I've noticed that reflecting stuff while in the new Arcstaff super isn't consistent. For example, I reflected a hammer back at a Titan. It killed him, but the explosion still registered on me and I died (which, come on, dying to the hammer explosion while at full health in my super? Why do Hunters have such low super armor?). I had this happen to me twice in different matches on different maps. Not sure what the solution here could be, unless the Arcstaff reflects/blocks all incoming damage? 6. Penalties if a teammate leaves. This one is kind of ridiculous, but anyway. I've noticed that a lot of people still bail on competitive matches. While that alone is frustrating, what's more so is that those of us who stick around to see it through almost always lose, so we get penalized. My suggestion is to put a system in place that, if a teammate leaves but you finish the match regardless of the outcome, there is no loss penalty at the end. It doesn't count toward the loss streak, no points retracted. This could go a long way to improving the already poor experience of having a teammate quit. 7. What's up with Ursa Furiosa? Come on, how did that get through PvP play testing?

    • Nothing made me want to quit this game more than refer a friend and temporal surge. When you can feel the corporate greed touching you when you play; you will look for something else. I refuse to do a Destiny 3 cause I know what to expect now. As someone that goes to chase it all, I feel like I've been exploited as a player -- now Red Dead is calling me and I have to move on from this game and the 1,200 hours and 200 dollars I put into it.

    • I would like to see more details on all stats/perks. Guns - give me numbers for all of them along with the graph for quick visual. How much more range does my hand cannon have compared to my pulse rifle? A stat would help. It would be nice to know how much my masterwork upgrades are going to help without field testing everything all the time. Armor - how much of a reduction are those "reduced solar damage from enemies" giving me? Again numbers would be nice. I can go on and continue to give examples but basically anything that is vauge in its description with words like slightly, greatly or increased/decreased with no other descriptor needs to have numbers so i can have an exact idea as how to build my gaurdian to fit my playstyle. Lastly, your patch notes are just as vauge. Tell me what the reductions are. Tell me how much you are increasing your exotic drop rates along with the existing drop rates. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is having a long dry spell with exotic drops only to hear " increased exotic drop rate slightly ". When you say slightly is that 2% on top of 10% Or is it .25% on top of .05%. Again, simply know how much of an increase would be nice and a good way start to having open dialogue with the community.

    • My single biggest problem with the game right now is the matchmaking in gambit consistently putting solo players up against full fireteams. Please stop it. Not everyone can play as part of a fireteam, therefore you are penalised for playing gambit solo, which is made worse by the fact that you now get banned for refusing to get stomped on every time and back out. I apprdfciate the quitter sanctions have been put in with good intentions, but you have to realise that without an incentive to stay in a losing game, people are just going to quit anyway or go AFK.

    • Over all, for a game to still have me playing almost everyday for the past 2 years says a lot about it. But, the one thing I would like to see more often is the option to get a kool weapon or gear. I mean, take for example; 'you have to have 15 Crucible kills'. Since I really, really suck at Crucible, and always end up last, I don't play it. So, I miss out on a weapon or gear. I would like to see the option of; 'you have to have 15 Crucible kills [u]OR[/u] 150 head shots' or '15 Crucible kills or complete a Strike on hard' or something like that. I understand EVERYONE plays Crucible. But, I think there are those few like me that don't. And I understand you guys do what the majority of the players want. If something like this is used more often, I'm sure a great game will be even greater.

As I feared in my previous post to you on this, the Investment Team didn't go NEARLY far enough in making the cores available for the mid-game power-progression function they want it to serve. As a result you now have a lot of loot-based RPG gamers who are leaving the game in frustration because this "economy" prevents them from playing the game in the way that they enjoy....and with the gear they wish to play. THAT is the "meaningful choice" they should be supporting. The choices that have meaning to the PLAYER....not the designer. Tell them to STOP OVER-CONTROLLING the game and trying to force people to play the game the way BUNGIE wants.....and empower people to play the game the way THEY want. 2. Skill-based matchmaking needs to be returned to Quickplay, and needs to be added to Gambit in lieu of the current "catch up" mechanics. Quickplay has simply become a pub-stomping ground top players and clan teams. The solo player and average player experience in that play list is simply MISERABLE as you feel like you're simply being served up to be farmed by streamers and no-lifers. I avoid the Comp playlist like a bad rash....but now a day doesnt' go by where I'm not getting shredded by people armed with Luna's Howl...and getting steamrolled by clan teams who simply run around the map in a 6-man deathball. Gambit is becoming equally tilt-inducing because solo players are again getting served up to clan teams....and good players are forced to have to carry people who can't seem to manage to avoid dying with 50 and 60 motes on them every game. SBMM has to comeback or these game modes will rot from the bottom up just like Trials did....and Comp nearly did last season. The current matchmaking scheme is alienating players who won't come here to complain....or fire up their Twitch or YouTube channel to complain. They'll just quietly stop playing the game....and all you'll see is the engagement numbers plummet. But right now you have a PVP experience right now that is so toxic for the solo player that Black Ops 4 is more fun to play....and I feel less taken advantage of. You dont' have to go off the deep end like Massive did with The Division....with a dozen layers of RNG, and abilities that were game-breakingly powerful. But you guys still seem to make decisions that make it appear that you are still unwilling to accept what kind of game you've made....who is playing the game...and why they're playing it. Destiny still has the feel of a shooter game with loot, made for shooter gamers. When the realtiy is tha the vast majority of your players are RPG gamers who are playing your game as an action-RPG...with guns. Massive seems to be leaning into this. Digitial Extremes leaned into this HARD with Warframe. Bioware also seems to be leaning hard into this by forgoing (at least at launch) any PVP elements to Anthem. You guys need to lean into this as well. Especially since Bioware could take a huge bite into your PVE player base, if they deliver on what the word-of-mouth is saying about the game so far. The alpha game footage they showed in Paris looked impressive.

        Last wish raid mode idea Mode name: Heroes and outlaws of old Mode rules: May only use swords, bows, scout rifles, sniper rifles and hand cannons (exceptions include 1000 voices, perfect paradox and similar weapons) guns may only be from Osiris forge or dreaming city. Swords have infinite ammo. You may use other weapons such battle axes, javelins, Spears, staffs, short swords and hammers. Relic weapons will be provided by Saladin and Rasputin. Weapons also will have infinite ammo. More than exotic weapon may be used. Grenades are disabled. Snipers use primary ammo. Saladin will act as support occasionally along with commentary. At the end riven will become a dragon

      • 1. I would like to see higher drop rates for older activities such as the ikelios weapons. I have done about 20 level 7 boss kills on escalation protocol and have gotten nothing but shaders. And the chest only gives you the gear. The new dlc forsaken is a pain to get new exotics. I have gotten none with the exception of queensbreakers bow and lord of wolves. Which doesnt count technically since they are an old exotic. I understand not getting everything new in the first week or even month of forsaken. We would be bored. But for the old DLC, make it easier to get. The drop rates are horrendous for those ikelios weapons alone and I'm just trying to do my triumphs. I play every day, using all 3 classes and barely any luck with the drops. Should I play less? 2. Telesto is a great weapon. Good power. And too good of range. However ots too powerful for it to be in the special ammo slot. It should be moved to heavy in my opinion. It's not a linear fusion rifle so it shouldn't be able kill me across the map at a body shot. It makes crucible a bit of a pain. And competitive not even worth it. Keep running into teams of 4 all using it. It is 90% of the time a one sided match. All you have to to is aim by them, and they are trapped, forced to retreat, or push forward to be just one shotted with a primary weapon. It's just gonna be " trials of the telesto" pretty soon. Just a thought. You can even just change the range or the amount of bomb things it leaves is another option. Just make it so it's not effective at every range situation.

Keep what worked in destiny 1. -Remove glimmer cap- Remove current glimmer cap and increase max cap to 999,999. -Remove Pay to Play for future DLC- The only dlc that should cost money should remain only the season/annual pass. Future dlcs, allow only through game update. Allow the player to feel that when you purchase the season/annual pass that it is GUARANTEED loot received that is not obtainable in game. Also allow the loot to have good rolls and stats. - Vendors- Each vendor should have their own rare quest that allow you only to obtain a weapon or armor only through them. The gunsmith and the other vendors are kind of a waste of time in my opinion, since they do not have better loot. Also with vendors, remove the power level cap. For example, if I am power level 600, I should get a power level item of 600 when turning in items to the vendor. -Weekly Crucible Events- To enable weekly crucible events, rotate them on a 2 week recurrence and allow them to be permanent. For example, Week 1 - SRL Week 2 - Faction Rally Week 3- Trials Week 4 - Iron Banner -Weapon Balancing- Enhance weapon damage for all weapon types. -In-game rewards- The rewards obtained in game for physical merchandise should be free. The player will feel accomplished and rewarded for their hard work. But still allow items from the bungie store to be purchased. -New weapon types and designs- I do not know how much time and effort is put in designing new weapons, but for future content, please stop with the re-skin of the weapons. Better outfits sets and weapon sets. For example, the Origin Story and the Horror story is the same exact weapon. Just colored differently. I like the dreaming city and new raid designs. Increase the power level cap to 800. [b]What would you like to see added?[/b] More armor, more melee weapon variety, stance/attack variation. Exotic double quickfang. More exotics that are not D1 re-rolls. -special weapon request- A flamethrower! -Exotic leg armor- Exotic leg armor should have their own jump sound effect. Players need to feel the difference and include lore background explaining why. -Sparrows- Add a Speedometer to the right corner of the screen when driving any sparrow. Enable turbo boost for rare/legendary sparrow Enable missiles, rockets, machine guns attachments for exotic sparrows. Enable customizations on sparrows such as clan emblems, decals and stickers. -Shaders- Enable shader customization for all equipment Add a shader option to “Apply all” to the equipped weapons or armor. -Quick weapon swap- It has been a nightmare since D1 to keep having to pause the game to change a weapon. With the Directional pad, add the ability to assign a preferred weapon for quick swap. [b]-No more D1 weapon exotic quests[/b]- In my opinion, I honestly think that destiny 2 should stop re releasing D1 weapons. If I want to experience the D1 weapons, I’ll go back and play D1. The current quest for the thunderlord weapon is not worth it for me. And that weapon was not that good from D1. If it is Bungie’s intention to bring them all back, then do not put them in exotic quests. Include them in the algorithm on how legendary/exotic engrams are obtained in game. That will satisfy and surprise all players. Add a timer for how long the player has played the game for each guardian class. -Individual player rewards for Crucible- Let’s not confuse this with daily and weekly bounties. In the crucible, reward the player with a good loot item (random and not duplicated) for having the most kills, efficiency, capture rate, etc. and place it in a ranking system. I would like to know where I stand in the ranks so that I can become one of the best crucible players. -In game Character Editor- Enable the option to change your character appearance while in game and include more faces, hair, skin colors and cosmetics. -Trading system- Add a effective trading system that players can exchange loot with each other.
