(Disclaimer: I haven't used the 3 shot tether, however I'd assume that it's even worse)
Ever since Destiny 1 tether has been one of the most inconsistent supers in the game. The delay between the firing animation, the projectile travel time and further more the activation time of the actual tether, makes it one of the most broken supers in the game. Add poor net coding and latency issues, and the super will more likely that not net you no kills and no map control. I mean sure, if you waited for the perfect moment once a game you could get 1 or 2 kills.
The super provides little to no power fantasy and more often than not will even be COUNTERED by the saturation of roaming supers. You can't use it to react to other supers because of the massive animation delays. However if you do manage to get it off, it can just as easily be destroyed by a Nova Warp or any super on the Striker tree. Sentinels just throw their shields, golden guns press the trigger, stormtrance will kill you, burning maul can just slam on it.
Point is, the super doesn't shut down other supers and is not capable of consistently getting kills and helping with area denial. As long as it can be destroyed it will be pretty meh at area denial. However I'd assume that it would just be annoying if it was immune to damage. The tether can't 1-shot anyone. It should be able to. It should also be able to shutdown supers. This could be done by granting an initial suppression AOE on impact of the arrow. Increasing the range could work wonders for the functionality of the super in PvP, however this could make it even more incredibly powerful in PvE.
Another possible avenue could be speeding up the animation speed. As explained before, the super can't be used in a reactionary manner more often than not. This would also help tether actually shut down supers. This, combined with the initial suppression would make tether actually function as it was designed to.
Obviously, Destiny severs are still going to be problematic for the super. All I can really say on that part is; Bungie, please fix your game. Again on the servers, luna's doesn't always 3 tap to the head they're that inconsistent. Any way, fix tether, fix your game.
Please leave your thoughts bellow. Unless you're going to say "Well it's a PvE super'. In that case just leave and go be ignorant somewhere else.

1 commentaireHunters are already overpowered and easy to use. Don’t @ me.

19 commentairesIn the wise words of Luke Skywalker... "Amazing! Every word you just said was wrong!" Seriously, though... It's an amazing super. If you're not running Moebius Quiver, then it's NOT SUPPOSED TO BE a reactionary super. Way of the Trapper is for exactly what it's name entails. Trapping. It's supposed to be used to shoot into a choke point, and wait. You ONLY talked about PvP in this post, so I can imagine you don't use it much otherwise. In PvE, the super is STILL as amazing as it used to be, utility wise. However, the only thing that's inherently bad about it now, are it's orbs. They used to be THE MOST POWERFUL orbs in the game, and now they're weaker than Masterwork orbs. This super and it's abilities are actually quite balanced, you're just obviously not using it the way it's supposed to be done, and THAT'S why you're struggling. Once again, the only thing wrong with this super, is the orbs. You just need to simply...
Get Good.
1 commentaireNova warp can cancel a deadfall tether before it triggers to suppress

For top tree tether I have no complain. Its a PvE centric Super. With Orpheus Rig its insane. In Last Wish its almost non stop Tether. Its my favorite also for Gambit. Cleared adds super quick and also very effective for primeval. I can 2-3x tether a primeval in a round. Bottom tree is trash though, not just the Super but almost also other ability. If just invisibility in this game is "really" invinsible this subclass would be good. Unfortunately Hunter cloaking is worse than Fallen. The super itself is super trash, need to Kill in 2 Shots + we are in a lot of danger when shooting. Heart of the Pack is useless, we have to stay together with team + near enemies. Its a rare situation. I havent test it for PvE, is the super damage good for killing a boss? If the damage bigger than Arcstrider, its worthed to use Bungie needs to revamp this super imo.

1 commentaireWould be fun if Shadowshot's Tether could immediately Detonate in Midair based on Proximity to enemies, without needing to first land on a surface. Similar to how Proximity Detonation on Grenade Launchers works. The way I see it, Shadowshot's Tether should already be primed the moment you fire it. No interesting reason to keep it with a delay before it's triggered.

1 commentaireI think if they added a better animation, instead of floating bullet pinata, it would be alright. Or removed it from radar. Why the hell a trap show up on radar is beyond me.
-
1 commentaireBtw this is just my opinion, yours may differ. I think that the reason the devs made tether unable to 1 shot is because they didn’t want it to be a panic super. Sometimes tether was used this way in d1, and that’s not it’s intended purpose. It needs to tether enemies faster so that it can actually stop supers and shotgunners rounding corners.
-
1 commentaireTether is obviously intended to be a PvE support super. Use something else in PvP...

1 commentaireAll I saw in that video was someone waste a super. They don’t know how to set a trap properly. Nightstalker isn’t for everyone

4 commentairesThe way I see Tether is that it wasn't made to be a high damage Super, but was made to assist other guardians in doing high damage. I believe it was made to be a utility Super, similar to the Well of Radiance, the new Warlock Solar Super. That being said, I believe that Tether was originally created for PvE. I main Hunter, and I find that when I'm the only Hunter on the team, or the other Hunter(s) is/are rocking Blade Barrage or Arc Strider, then switching to Tether makes everything easier. It's a great source of Orbs of Light when shot into a crowd of ads, it allows you to crit on every hit on a Major, which comes in handy at the end of missions or in Gambit, and it pairs perfectly with high damaging Supers such as Blade Barrage or Chaos Reach. Overall I see tether as a utility Super more than a damage Super. I see it as a set up for the "perfect storm" of damage, if used correctly.

1 commentaireAll for it getting buffed in pvp but are we gonna talk about how tether is bugged af on the shuro chi encounter?

1 commentaireI think tracking on spectral blades and saving super energy and the bug on the lock super should be addressed first in regaurds to supers. I find it a tad annoying when I pop spectral, get right in someone's face and swing from less than a foot away and miss, and miss, and miss again...from a foot away.

1 commentaireI absolutely destroy in PVE with it.

1 commentaireModifié par CleverInvective : 11/1/2018 10:50:04 PMNo. Nightstalker is optimal as a pve subclass. And it should be it as such for the Hunter class. Not every subclass and subclass tree should be optimal for everything. In Destiny 1, Nightstalker was supposed to be pve oriented but it was discovered the Tether could OHK in crucible. Bungie let the playerbase run with it, and couldn't change course on that subclass, lest there be whiny user backlash. What you see with Nightstalker in D2 is Bungie correcting and adjusting course with that subclass to serve the role is was originally intended to play. Subclass optimization has always been there even in D1. Titan Defender, for example, was truly a pve subclass. Very few bitched about it. In D2, subclass trees (groupings, bundles, whatever) are Bungie's attempt to grant every subclass a way to play either to some degree. I play Titan specifically, so my knowledge is centered around them, so I'll use them as example: - Code of the Defender (Titan Sentinel tree with Ward of Dawn) is still clearly optimal for pve. - Code of the Aggressor (Shield Throw) was Bungie trying to give the Void light Titan a bit more offensive output, but it's still optimal for pve. this would be Sentinel best option for pvp. - Code of the Commander (Banner Shield). Team-oriented PvE. dps boost. - Code of the Devastator (Burning Maul and Throwing Hammers) is optimal for pve. - Code of the Fire-forged ( Titan Sunbreaker with exploding hammers) is PvP all the way. - Code of the Siegebreaker (Sunspots). Standing in Sunspots giving you more hammers to throw. Totally pve. - Code of the Earthshaker (Shoulder Charge and dual grenades). is actually good in both realms. best choice for pvp for the Striker. - Code of the Missile (Thundercrash) the flying in from a distance isn't really necessary for pve. It plays out better in pvp. - Code of the Juggernaut- is all about melee punching and extended havoc duration. usable in pvp, but more suited to pve. All the D2 subclass trees are about varying degrees of optimization for either pve or pvp. Some subclasss trees allow you to ride a bit in the middle between both, others lean one way more or the other. If you go analyze each class, you'll see all the subclasses have this tendency. Not every Hunter subclass has to be a pvp beast. Please stop asking. In D2, Nightstalker is for Hunter what Sentinel is for Titan.

Modifié par BlewGhost : 11/1/2018 11:26:06 PMHOW ABOUT WE REMOVE PREDATOR FROM THE SKILL TREE. YOU KNOW, THE PERK FROM D1 THAT NO ONE USED BECAUSE OF HOW TERRIBLE IT WAS. FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW, IT GIVES SHADOWSHOT A LONGER ACTIVATION. Shadowshot is fine, this garbage can perk just needs to be deleted. It's called Deadfall in this game.
Show me one person that didn't run Shadestep and or Keen Scout for this garbage.
4 commentairesSo.....just like everyone else that complains about tether, you use it like it's a panic button....like a fool.....then proceed to say it's broken and underpowered. How about when you see a super you set it somewhere near them BEFORE they get to you so it rips them out when they get close.
-
1 commentaireIt’s peer2peer, we are the servers, that’s why I laugh at anything that is supposed to be competitive in this game.
-
3 commentairesWell, here is my opinion.. When a suppressor grenade is actually better than a super that does the exact same intended effect.. there is something wrong.
-
When I see a tether about to go out, 75% of the time I can avoid it before the animations over. I've also nova warp teleported over and through them before which is broken.
-
Modifié par W33DEDPLAGUE : 11/1/2018 6:06:02 PMI can agree with the points made but why does everyone feel the need to be so hostile? (Your post not so much, i jist happened to think about it now because of the "fix your game" comment). They are much less likely (as am I and most people) to take complaints seriously when its a bunch of whiney or degrading/aggresive language. If people could just be more civil like a grown up human being (I know a lot of them aren't from grown ups), they might consider complaints and suggestions more. The way people present their arguments just makes them sound uneducated and whiny...nobody wants to listen to that, so why would Bungie?
-
Woah that player was terrible. Bad placement
-
Idk man. I've had my supers shot down when I've been tethered. Do you use the single shot or multi shot tether? Do you aim for a person or the ground? Do you consider choke points and use it to herd the enemy towards you? Did you can shoot to make it activate sooner? And other ideas and strategies to consider. I treat Stalker like I treat my Slinger Trip Mines by asking myself where I can place object A to cause effect G to solve for X.

5 commentairesIt's a mandatory super in PvE though so you could probably just use it for that which is was intended for. Not everything needs to slay in PvE AND PvP. That's why you have multiple subclasses to choose from.
