Researchers concluded that U.S. government policies rarely align with the preferences of the majority of Americans, but do favour special interests and lobbying organizations: "When a majority of citizens disagrees with economic elites and/or with organized interests, they generally lose. Moreover, because of the strong status quo bias built into the US political system, even when fairly large majorities of Americans favour policy change, they generally do not get it."

Which shows you how successful BOTH parties have been in getting everyone to focus on social....tribal...issues of power...... ....while ignoring the fact that we're all fighting over CRUMBS. Purge the lot of them, nationalize campaign funding, ban lobbying and donations, all outside business interests must be divested before entering into a political career, national debates are televised, mandatory for all parties and are strictly about party policy, time must be spent at lower tiers of government before anyone is eligible to run for President/Prime Minister. Boom. A leader who knows what the -blam!- they are doing, with no baggage.

1 commentaireI have issues with this. If we have politicians radically change things all the time, some decisions might not be good for the poeple. Each congress person has their own veiws. For example just because the NRA gives money to politicians does not make them pro 2a. If this were the case then why don't we give NRA money to Democrats? The reason people feel like nothing is getting done is because most political issues don't directly affect them. Would your life be much different if hilliary was president? It's possible but not likely. Was your life changed as a result of Transferring power from obama to trump? My wasn't. The only main issue that voters passionately care about is the economy. George HW Bush could win a war, but do to some economic issues he lost the election. People like to rally behind social issues because America is addicted to outrage. It's also more fun to debate. Direct Democracy can turn to mob rule really quickly. I rather have a billionaire have power then a angry left wing mob.
