Ok, so I am confused on the subject here, that the Guardians cannot be taken by Oryx. But how do they do that. I heard of two possible answers
1. The Taken requires a living host to do it, based on the dimensional rift on Phobos.
2. Because we have the light inside us grants us a form of immunity.
Can someone clarify please?

as someone said earlier, we are a parecausal force just like Oryx and the rst of the Osmium court, meaning that we hav the ability to change out fate in the universe, and also we are not technically alive in the fact that we are a shell of what we once were before the collapse
-
1. We are paracausal beings 2. We live, but we are not truely 'alive'

Modifié par Ung Jaym : 5/31/2017 5:54:32 AMwe're not technically alive so the "living host" theory is probably correct

Because we are the Taken's antithesis, a weapon specially designed as the ideal counter. The Taken are the living with their minds broken and their hollow shells filled with Darkness. Guardians are the risen dead, animated by Light.
-
1. By sword logic we control the taken now because we killed oryx 2. We technically are not alive, we "live" because of the light. Take away the light and we are extremely weakened and will eventually die

7 commentairesWe are living so #1 doesn't work. #2 is correct though, the travelers light protects us, which will be interesting thinking about destiny 2

Taking does require a living host, but that wouldn't stop a revived person from being Taken as they are alive once again. Guardians cannot be Taken because we are imbued with Light, which is a power equal to the Darkness and therefore untamable

I don't know about you, but I was taken to the tune of around $170.00.

We can't be Taken, but using Memory of Timur we may as well be the Taken King.

I've heard it's because we're Paracausal beings, but it could just be because we're technically dead already so we can't be Taken.

Both 1 and 2.

1 commentaireIt's probably a bit of both. Although we are living Guardians, we are also the dead returned to life through the powers of the Traveller. We have already been given a new shape by the Traveller through the Ghosts when they resurrect us. Osiris asked how much did a Ghost change us.
How much of a Guardian's personality and memories were true? How much had been fabricated by their Ghost? Did Guardians share particular personality traits— a willingness to yield to authority, a tendency to do anything anyone asked for the promise of uncertain reward, a blind knight-errant mentality? Had the Traveler manufactured all of you as living weapons?
We are also paracausal and therefore outside of cause and effect. There's something Oryx says in the Books
Oryx knew that all life could be described as cellular automata, except for that life which understood the Deep or the Sky, and thus escaped causality.
We have an understanding of the Sky (Light) and escape causality (paracausal). This in itself maybe enough to prevent being Taken.

Light, that's the exact reason.

Modifié par Mar : 5/29/2017 3:06:16 AMfrom what i can guess, just given the grimoire and in game events. its either that guardians have to strong a will to be taken, or (maybe even in addition too) he actually has to beat something to take it, and guardians are the only thing that has / can fight back. In the grimoire when oryx takes something he changes "their shape" and improves on them, giving them a answer to something they lack. Which could be taken (no pun intended) as either the things being taken don't have the will to resist, or have a choice to fight against it and never choose to. In game he does attempt to take the guardian, when he pulls us into that sphere during the regicide mission. He pulls us in and we fight him back preventing him from taking us or killing us. So either he actually has to beat us, or the light of the traveler all guardians have allows them to fight against the process. But as i said, that is my guess. Could be completely wrong, but thats the way i see it from the lore and in game mechanics.
