Sound off in the comments, as I would like to see what the community thinks about this.
For me, ToC has ruined any excitement I used to get out of getting an Exotic drop. After TTK, Exotics stopped feeling rare and elusive and they now just feel like glorified legendaries. I understand that ToC was made to counter frustrating RNG, and I'm not defending the loot system in year 1. But if you think about it, Exotics aren't really hard to get even if you take ToC out of the game.
Let's think here.
You can get Exotics from Nightfalls, Raid encounters/chests, the Trials Lighthouse chest, Legendary engrams, Xur, and Exotic quests. I probably forgot some but you get my point.
Edit: I didn't get a chance to finish the post since I had to go to class, so I'll finish this.
If we did not have ToC, then Exotics would feel more Exotic, but they also wouldn't be unreasonably elusive.
Edit 2: I'm not saying we should go back to the loot system in year 1, I'm saying we should get rid of ToC.
Edit 3: nigel_the_mole actually proposed a pretty good idea. He said this:
Well, there are two kinds of exotics:
1. Those that only come from 1 source (eq, a quest line, or raid drop), and,
2. Exotics that can drop from many sources (e.g., chests, RNG, 3ofC, Xur, etc).
I'll agree that 3ofC had devalued the second pool. There were very few, if any, I got originally from 3ofC. (Had all the Exotics prior to 3ofC release, and can only specifically recall 1 of the newer ones from 3ofC. Possibly a few more, but not many.)
3ofCs basically was first a road to max light, then a shard factory, then a "why even bother."
But group 1 I actively pursued.
I'd say, for D2, I'd like to see the first group be much bigger.
More quest Exotics. More "achievement" Exotics.
Fewer in the second group.
I realize this makes for essentially two classes of exotics (the "hard" ones vs the "easy" ones), but this division already exists. But it allows casual players to get some without having to do specific efforts, and the better stuff to be a bit more effort to achieve.
TL;DR - more exotics from quests or specific points in raids.
Do away with 3oc and as a suggestion Xur should be killed in the opening cinematics of D2 whilst delivering his suckage to the tower.
-
1 commentaireExotics just became infusion fuel with 3oc.
-
The exotics are trash anyway after all the PvP nerfs so not even quitting ToC from game will fix the no excitement effect on exotics
-
They were introduced because exotics were very very rare, you could argue that's how it should be. However, many people who play casually didn't have the time to grind and hope RNG gave them a beautiful golden bit of lewt. The current system seems to work better, I can't remember the last time I used a 3oC.

I love three of coins. Its seriously one of my favorite things to buy from xur when he comes because its like a surprise on what you get. I have been fairly lucky with three of coins, every 2 matches or majors I get a drop, but the problem is, is that the drops are repetitive with what I have already gotten. Id prefer if they kept toc in destiny 2
-
uh no while i agree that they do make exotics feel less "exotic" they are great for collectors like me when xur doesnt have the weapon or armor i need. But lets be real exotics havent felt exotic since yr1 being theyre really lack luster and weak

2 commentairesI wish it would go back to the way it was in year one. Have to do the nightfall or raid for exotics.

Modifié par ashmansmithbob : 4/21/2017 5:05:08 AMGet rid of them there boring no suprise when you get 1 now, maybe just increase the drop rate of exotics from completing activities.they used to drop randomly in strikes and crucible but just too rare a chance
-
Weren't they made for new players? So they can have an easier chance of getting them? I thought the purpose of them was to give new fresh guardians a taste of exotic gear. Although, I never thought I'd say this to myself "Welp, now I have 7 exotic shards" or "can't fit that in my vault, even though I have 2 blues I can dismantle, eh I'll shard it"
-
4 commentairesTotally agree. Getting exotics in year one was a super exciting feeling. Getting them now is like "Awesome. Another exotic shard"
-
I agree. Random drop exotics should be those exotics that are more in the lower tier like knucklehead radar (since Gheleon artifact is better) or taikonaut or Boolean Gemini. Something that is a nice background benefit but not necessarily top tier. Also let those drop a little more often at the lower levels. Nothing worse than getting a brand new exotic that's junk cause you have all the great ones already.
-
For us filthy casuals they are a way to get exotics, not that any weapon in this game could ever be classed as above average though. If you want to be elitist then suggest they sell weapons in eververse.....Because that's what will happen. In the mean time, don't use 3oc if you don't like it.....But don't bitch at people who do.

Modifié par jhutch_91 : 4/21/2017 3:27:32 AMJust return exotics how they were in year 1 Loot from end of a pvp match, strike, nightfall And questline/ random bounties were perfect It was rare when it happened but it was not like how drops are in the raids right now.... (almost nothing) AND. Keep 3 of coins...
-
Where does everyone get this idea that with two hundred exotics, we should only see a small handful of them ever? Should everyone only be rocking whites and greens? Exotics are just the next quality above Legendary. 3oC were added because BungIe was too incompetent to just tweak the droprates. The mechanics behind them should work without having to go through the hassle of activating one. I miss randomly getting an exotic after a PvP match or strike.
-
This may be due to the fact that we've been here for three years. Even though we may not have acquired a given exotic, we've seen all of them in one form or another.
-
The reason why we have 3oC are because bungo turned exotics into crap and they figured they would appease the sheep. Just getting rid of 3oC does not get at the heart of the problem. What? We want to make crap exotics rarer? Fix exotics.
-
The Y1 grind sucked. Decrypting an exotic engram is no less exciting than getting an exotic at the end of a mission or match. Keep 3oC's or just do away with exotics.
-
Just more quest exotics, please. Black Spindle was earned through a great hidden mission, Outbreak Prime was earned through a fun ARG, No Time to Explain was through a fun trip back to the Vault of Glass. Decent missions make you feel like you earned the reward and aren't random.
-
12 commentairesI'm sorry, but doing the same activity multiple times and not getting a reward sucks. People that do it once or twice could get the item right away. 3oC provides a higher chance rather than solely relying on RNG.
-
4 commentairesSimply put there was a level of pride and excitement when you got an exotic that doesn't exist anymore. My most memorable experiences of weapon drops in destiny were from year 1. Exotics just aren't special anymore and it's a shame. Casual or not they should be rare hard to get pieces . I would be on board with getting rid of three of coins or at least balancing the economy so they feel special once again.
-
ToC definitely killed excitement for Exotics, but you really should remember that the only reason you were ever excited was that the game drop rates for exotics in the raids, crucible and legendary engrams were incredibly low.
-
They're one of the worst things that was added to the game.
-
3 commentaires3oC was implemented badly. When ppl were farming Draksis the devs should have removed them until fixed. When ppl are using them to attain higher light, or Max light, then it would be fair to say they are too easy to get (IMO).
-
1 commentaireKeep ToC but, it gives it a 0.5% chance of dropping
-
Simply limit the number of exotics to 1 or 2 per archetype and have them drop randomly on all game modes. No 3oC or the likes of. Maybe have a long term quest line along the lines of Touch of Malice or NTTE that is purely story driven as part of the main storyline to get an exotic weapon. Just a thought...oh look - a unicorn
