Ok, first let me say I know this won't happen....but after a few beers I had an idea that seems extremely appealing. Imagine if you will if in Destiny 2 there was an unlimited level with no cap, and every bounty, every kill could advance your character! What a great game this would be if guardians like myself who have put countless MONTHS of our lives into this game could truly become LEGEND. Imagine doing a raid with a level 2789 who could conceivably one shot the boss! And Bungie....imagine the incentive that would give us hardcore players to keep playing every day like your bosses at Activision want? Oh well, dream over....just thought I'd share this little thought.
EDIT - After many replies constructive and otherwise I think the best thing that could be done to make unlimited character progression possible is a system like Diablo 3's Paragon levelling method. Light level would stay at 40, yet a secondary progression would give very slow stat increases and cosmetic bonuses....I wish!

1 commentaireI’d like to think that you’re constantly progressing as a result of the hard work you put it, but I don’t think it would work unless they also push the enemy levels up too. Otherwise it would make everything pointless if you can just look at a raid boss and he’s piss his pants and drop raid gear and weapons for the rest of your fireteam. That would mean they’d have to raise the level of the existing content, which would lock out the majority of the player base. Or they’d have to be constantly bring out new content with higher levels, which isn’t going to happen. Unless…they have the option to set the level of the activity, not just normal or heroic, but actually manually entering the level of the enemies.

There are no rewards for being good these days.

No, unlimited level sure, not unlimited light level.

1 commentaireThose beers must have been strong for you to come up with something as strange as this.. LOL

This would be awesome, but would making doing raids impossible
DAILY RAID MUST BE 4K LVL + (insert weird need here)
-
Or, higher level would face harder bosses and get higher level and ornate gear. No one shorting bosses though. Super high LL guardians could hold rank and be seen as commanders and have guardians serve under them.

2 commentairesModifié par GrundleBeans : 12/18/2016 2:06:42 AMIf people could one-shot bosses, the game would be incredibly broken. Level caps exist for good reasons, like goals for unlocking things and how much damage a person can do to an enemy. You could have unlimited levels, but if that means every level gets more and more powerful, then a minority would play constantly to be so overpowered that nobody could catch up and they'd beat everything without trying. That's not good. That makes for a very boring game and a little thing we call "power creep". What you'd need then is a cap on how much damage a person can do up to a certain level, and then after that the point of leveling up is for bragging rights and level up rewards of some kind. It's okay if you can practically one-shot a low level boss after you level your character up to a point, but if it means being able to just grind out levels to where you can one-shot EVERY boss, that's breaking the game.

You can. You get 5 motes every time you level up. Some website will show you your "prestige" level also, can't remember which one it was.

4 commentairesBut then with the gaming mentality people at the level of 9393936272828262 would only want to run shit with other guys around the same level. No matter what it is people will always want a high level player with them instead of carrying a low level screb.
