Nagasaki wasn't the original second objective for the Atomic Bomb, it was Kyoto, but one of the members of the Manhattan project went to Kyoto for his Honeymoon and expressed his disagreement with the decision. Turns out Kyoto was scrapped and Nagasaki became that objective.
