This obsession over K/D is turning this community toxic.
Recently, a certain Exotic weapon (Universal Remote) has become a topic of debate in these forums. Some people want it nerfed, others want it to stay where it is.
I thought I'd make my own thoughts clear on the subject, so I made [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/212324463?showBanned=0&path=0]this[/url] thread.
Despite the fact that the thread has 8 likes as of me writing this sentence, the majority of the comments seem to be focusing on one of two things:
1) Snipers are OP and that means UR needs nerfing (You guys realise how ridiculous this sounds, right?)
2) OP HAS A LOW K/D AND THAT SOMEHOW RENDERS ALL HIS POINTS INVALID HURR HURR HURR!
Yes, I have a low K/D. Until a few months ago, I sucked in the Crucible. In addition, I rarely ever actually try during my matches. Why? There's no point. Any rewards I get are based on participation, not performance. I don't have an incentive to win, therefor I see little point in trying.
Leaving my recent improvements aside, why the hell should the fact that I have a low K/D in the crucible leave me with basically no respect whatsoever in these forums? Why the hell does it matter that the person saying these things either sucks or is super amazing at Skirmish or some crap?
Almost all I see when I get a new notification is someone either insulting my skill or my intelligence and I don't know how much longer I can take it. I'm getting sick and tired of the ridicule, guys. I paid for this game, I'll play it however I damn well please, and my opinion matters just as much as any one of yours. So get the hell off of your high horse and start treating me with some goddamn respect!

I haven't bothered getting into K/D debates. I know where to find mine, but I'd rather just let it be. In some games I do well, others bad. It's a coin toss. Plus, the only real time I'm concerned about crucible at all is Iron Banner.. But it's for sweet loot and not competing for K/D.. lol

Bad players are blaming the weapons because they think they are better then they actually are. 2 commentairesThough KD means very little, it still holds some value. Usually a 1.5 - 2 KD player will have more knowledge than a 0.5-1 KD player. Not to say your opinion is meaningless but someone with a higher KD will more often than not have more experience than the lower KD player. It's not to say KD means everything because it doesn't and can be very misleading but if it's something someone strives for, you can't be mad at them.

I don't care about my kd but seeing that if you go into trials recruitment, it is just spammed with "be this kd or better. No noobs" I just is the worst feeling when just because of a stat you can't play with someone. Now the people with the 500.00 kd won't understand, but the people on my level will.

A valid opinion. Please forgive my first person perspective, but I work with statistics, trends and projections - It is paramount to include all data in an assumption (that's all we are really debating here isn't it guidelines and assumptions). 8 commentairesI agree with you with the "show more respect" part, but, check this situation: Player 1(0.5 K/D): [i]Bungie, Shoulder charge is overpowered. I can't do anything to counter it[/i] Player 2(3.4 K/D): [i]Bungie, Shoulder charge is ok, you just have to move around and kill him before he gets to you. The real problem is smoke, we shouldn't lose our radar, sprint and still receive A LOT of damage.[/i] Are you going to trust on player 1 or 2? The player 1 has some skill problems, he can't shot and walk at the same time, he can't jumpshot... That's why he is complaining about ____ ability. The Player 2 on the other hand, he is the true crucible player, he spend most of his time playing control (pubstomping) and he knows what is game breaking or not because of his experience. [spoiler]I'm not saying that those abilities are OP, they're only examples. [/spoiler]

K/d doesn't mean shit. Half the time I play with side arms and go .00000001. Still been flawless multiple times. K/d is no indicator of skill or success.

Score per minute. The game is won by points not kills only. Every mode including rumble, the top player doesn't have to have the most kills. Just saying.

I look at it like this, you're either below average, average, or above average in terms of pvp. It doesn't really matter which one someone is, they all experience the same things in pvp and should have the right to have input on them.

I agree. My kd sucks. I have however got over 200 000 kills in destiny across every weapon ever made available to me. This is my first fps. I have had bitchy little squeaky people, some of whom are actually adults dismiss my opinion for this exact reason. Point is to those little nerfy sweat pimples, i generally have more kills than you in more arenas, not just make believe gun fights that make you cry. My point is as valid as any intellectualised justification for losing because ive used the guns more. im no techno geek tryhard talking about gun specs, but the kd/validity statement is as redundant as crying because you died by someone shooting better than you. Oxygen theives cry nerfy werfy......

Okay but It REALLY isn't that hard to go into crucible and go positive. If you have a negative KD, you probably don't have a firm grasp of balance at all. People with higher KD's have more valid arguments due to "expertise". You're entitled to your opinion yada yada, I just won't take you seriously if you're below 1.0, sorry. You don't try at crucible, so why should I try to hear you out?
