Hand cannons make up the worst weapons in the game (bar TLW and a perfectly rolled Eyasluna), and that is pretty much down to one thing - the accuracy mechanics behind them. The fact that these weapons punish you for firing them at their max rate of fire is a really stupid design choice. Add to the fact that they are supposed to compete in the closer ranges with stuff like shotguns, auto rifles and pulse rifles and you make for a terrible experience when using them.
What annoys me more than the issues, though, is Weisnewski's refusal to acknowledge them and even outright deny their existence. The DVR clip I added is where I encountered an AFK player and proceeded to miss 2 or 3 shots that should have hit, depending on if you count that first drag-shot as a hit or not (I wouldn't). This was also in perfect hand cannon range, and I wasn't firing Hawkmoon at its true maximum rate of fire, either. Any sandbox designer that can watch this clip and still honestly believe that there isn't a problem with the accuracy system should be fired on the spot. Now, granted, I was using Hawkmoon with Aggressive Ballistics at the time, which has been acknowledged by Cozmo in another post that it has some problems, but I've gotten phantom bullets with all kinds of different hand cannons. I've gotten them with everything from The Last Word to The First Curse, from my Eyasluna without a range increase to my Devil You Know with Rifled Barrel. And this is coming from someone who has an insane amount of experience with hand cannons; I've racked up a combined total of 154,461 kills throughout the span of the game at the time of this post. I believe that that one statistic alone makes me qualified enough to identify problems with hand cannons and figure out solutions that would better balance the class. And if there could be only one solution, that would be to remove the accuracy mechanics of hand cannons entirely. Even with the absolutely abysmal range that they currently have, removing the accuracy mechanics would be a fix that would probably put many different hand cannons back in the meta, not just the two that were mentioned at the beginning of this post.
Considering the fact that many members of the community have identified this as a problem and a fix that they want to see implemented, the fact that Weisnewski has identified it as not a problem is extremely frustrating and shouldn't be accepted. I'd like to see Weisnewski readdress this problem and hopefully decides to fix it, like most of the community wants.

1 commentaireThere were two shots that didn't hit. The first missed by a mile (the drag shot). The second I have to say also missed, probably because the recoil didn't completely settle.

2 commentairesInteresting. After doing some slow motion analysis, it would appear that there is really only one possible phantom bullet in this clip, and that one is pretty iffy at best. The other two missed shots were not on target to begin with. A unique trait that applies to handcannons alone is that the sights do not fully center themselves before the next shot can be fired. However, that next shot will still go where the sights would normally line up at in the center of the screen. This was relatively easy to deal with in Y1, but with the additional recoil effects in Y2, it becomes a bit of a problem. Add that to Hawkmoons specific decreased stability and accuracy, and you can easily get the results we see here. I myself don't have issues like this very often and a I run what I believe to be a varied assortment of HCs. Here's a link to small compilation taken from the last IB featuring average performance from a Stolen Pride and an Imago Loop along with their build specs that I have been working on.

1 commentaireSorry man but u missed the shots

8 commentairesI use HC's effectively. Not sure why other people are having issues. It's all about timing of the shot. You just can't spam HC's anymore because the bloom effect will cause you to miss shots, resulting in "phantom bullets." You guys might be firing too quickly. HC's are no longer a plug-n-play weapon that you can use well just by picking one up with good perks. You can't simply spam them and take down your opponent. It takes time and practice. I used a HC very effectively over this weekend when I was playing crucibabies, so I know that they can still work very well. The skill it takes to use one well is what has changed. TBH, I throw stability out the window, and just try to develop a feel for the gun and when it is "dialed in" on true center again. Often times I'll fire a shot, back off into cover, then peek out to fire off another shot.

23 commentairesPace your shots. In the video clip you spammed it which is why you missed.

I counted, 3 ghost bullets? I think?
-
1 commentaireI cannot agree more. Hawkmoon specifically seems to have this problem the worst. I don't know how many rounds in Trials I would lose simply because of those ghost bullets. I personally use accurized ballistics now, and I still have this problem. I don't notice it so much on other handcannons, but the fact that it happens at all is enough for me to think that the bloom mechanic needs to be toned down. (The bloom mechanic can't be removed since Weisnewski said himself that every gun in this game has this mechanic.)

Yo here you go you might need this https://www.twitch.tv/triplewreck/v/80559901?t=10h48m11s

3 commentairesMy Lord High Fixer is extra crispy, even firing it at its full rate. I understand your frustration, but most hand cannons I've used are pretty solid with a range perk.
-
3 commentairesI gonna keep saying this till some idiot at bungie finally listens. If you want to force this mechanic on us give us a visual bloom cone, indicator, on screen in order for us to know when to actually fire for best accuracy.

Bump in agreement.

3 commentairesModifié par Slayride77 : 8/10/2016 2:58:30 AMHCs work...just not nearly as well as they used to. If you go for a stability build, you can spam fire your shots fairly accurately at the expense of range, if you go for the range build, you can get a longer shot but spam firing is out of the question. It's hard to balance them out with the perks they have. I've found for the Judith/Hakke HCs.....sureshot/smallbore/rangefinder/crowd control is an absolute god roll. You get a range boost and stability boost. Makes this gun well worth it. For nearly every other gun...rifled barrel/sureshot and your choices of other perks. For range perks...I go rifled barrel, smallbore, hammer forged in that order for best builds depending on the archetype. However, I have an eyasluna with pretty much max stability, range finder and third eye. It is a beast of a gun. With the newest patch, don't neglect stability. I refuse to use reinforced barrel unless I have to (ace of spades). If HCs (minus TLW)had a blanket +5 stability buff, a blanket +5-10 range buff and an increased flinch from head shots I think they'd be in the right place. They could compete much better with pulses at medium range and autos at close range and still "reward the skilled hand". TLDR. Yes they do need some tweaking in my opinion....especially the Hawkmoon. The stability drop on that gun was not necessary.

Modifié par PopsAutismo : 8/11/2016 12:11:58 AMPerfectly rolled Eyasluna Ugh. I almost threw up a little. So sick of that gun. I've already dismantled it twice, and I never want to see it pop up again. Also, my Kumakatok HC4 shreds

I have a decent lord high fixer and i have nothing but ghost bullets most days

1 commentaireModifié par Fishyb : 8/10/2016 3:31:13 PMBungies response will probably be to introduce hideous bloom onto everything, rather than just fix the hand cannons. After all it's much easier to ruin everything, rather than fix something.

Don't expect a response, a human needs at least 3 functioning brain cells to make an explanation. He is lacking

HC's are great right now. Let the sight fall back on the target and fire again. They are a niche weapon and pair very well with a sniper or a shotgun warrior. They are in a good spot
-
Bump. You weren't even firing all that quickly.
-
-
Bump Have experienced same thing
-
Bump. That was absurd.

When you use a handcannon, you run the risk of your gun not hitting your target even when your sights are clearly dead center on them. There's no point in using them if every other primary weapon doesn't have the same problem.
