Oryx doesn't even take "Light," he takes living things. It's not the same. I don't know where you're getting this from.

Do you not know that the Hive pursue Light precisely for the purpose of devouring it with slavering jaws and slick greedy gulping throats? How did you take (or rather, un-Take) the Blighted Light that Oryx gathered to offer in sacrifice to Akka, and ignite it so that it burned and burned the Darkness? Kings fall
-
Hive aren't Taken. Eating/devouring/sacrificing isn't Taking. Corrupted isn't Taken.
-
Did you not read the it? Blighted light.
-
Corrupted... Blighted... What's the difference? It's not the same as "Taking." Light has no physical form. It has no will. It needs no perfect shape. It's elemental. I'm not saying Light can't be corrupted. I'm saying, it's not the same thing.
-
Either way. Oryx can corrupt light or drain guardains of the light. Making the guardians weak.
-
I don't disagree. What does this have to do with Variks and the Fallen?
-
The effects the armor could have on the awoken could be bad. Very bad.
-
Even if that is the case, and I don't think it is, that doesn't prove Varik's has ill intentions. Petra knows and has signed off on his experiments.
-
Maybe. But can we trust the one who looks for the Kell of Kells. Who would turn to their side and who hired the assassin's to go after Petra.
-
You're making a huge leap when you assume that Variks is the one trying to assassinate Petra. And trying to unify the Fallen isn't, by default, an act of hostility towards the Awoken or the Tower, If the Fallen are going to survive what's coming, they'll need to unite, and they'll probably need our help. I think Variks understands that.
