For those who don't know how to "buy" exotic shards...
I didn't figure this out on my own, so I take no credit for this discovery, but it does merit a re post due to some recent threads talking about a shortage of exotic shards, or having to buy exotic engrams from Xur to get them, etc. This is something I generally do when I hit the glimmer cap, as it is quick and easy, and I have not hit the "more shards than I know what to do with" level yet.
So here goes: buy/activate heavy weapon telemetry from the gunsmith. Go to the kiosk and buy any rocket launcher or machine gun (I use Truth) for one exotic shard and 2500 glimmer. Equip the weapon and use 6 Motes of Light. Dismantle weapon, receive 2 exotic shards, 3 motes, and weapon parts. Repeat as many times as you need shards.
Net cost per shard is 2500 glimmer and 3 motes of light. You don't need to fully upgrade the perks on the heavy weapon, you just need to level them up via motes.

Yea, i just kind of figured this out on my own a good while back when i had extra glimmer and thought, why not stock up on shards. It's simple and very very effective. Hope bungie doesn't mess with it. I have about 90 though so for what i play tht's more than enough.

Why are people running out of shards? New players? I don't think I could use all mine if I tried.

I guess I am in the minority. I have 175 shards. Rngesus loves to give me the same exotics over and over.

2 commentairesOnly works if you have a shard to begin with though. You can buy certain exotic gear with marks though. In which case, it becomes a question of how expendable marks become to players (i.e. resources and gear).

4 commentairesYou can get 2 exotic shards by paying 13 strange coins to xur for an exotic and Mote ing it up. Thats 6.5 strange coins for 1 exotic. like others said you can do lots of POE CoE and break down HOW exotics AND you can simultaneously farm normal exotics while doing it. There is no shortage of exotic shards unless you hardly ever play.

24 commentairesYou guys don't know about the 6th slot glitch to duplicate items? This is how I get more shards. First you would need Fly and Surf if you don't then stop reading til you have the HMs. Talk to the old man that showed you how to capture. Now fly to the island where you get the 8th badge and surf along side the gym until you encounter Missingno. Run away and check your shards! This way you save glimmer and motes. You can thank me later.

Update 8.6.9 - Updated and fixed the gunsmiths heavy weapons glitch to make shards more challenging and fun to obtain for players

19 commentairesTo anyone that says there isn't a resource shortage, the mere fact that this trick is present and widely known indicates that there is some sort of a problem for a good amount of players in terms of Exotic Shards. They should just sell Exotic Shards again for glimmer and strange coins instead of making unlucky players go through a convoluted trick to make them. The economy in this game is so neglected it's ridiculous.
