So when I first got the game, I chose to play as a warlock...the armour looks kinda dumb, but the exotic perks are solid. The subclasses (only two back then) were also really enjoyable. I could space magic PvP, and had radiant skin for PvE. Life was great. Then year 2 came along and I got my 3rd subclass...it was amazing at both PvE and PvP (yea it is the easiest of the 9 to use, but it is also the most efficient). Life was fanfreakingtastic.
Then I decided to try my hand at a Titan. I was amazed at how padded they felt...I really did feel damn near invincible in PvE and nothing feels as satisfying as FoHing in PvP. Life was still great.
Then a little while later I tried a Hunter. PvP was straight forward enough, and the subclasses worked pretty well for small groups of enemies (1-3)...then I decided to try doing the daily, a PvE experience that used to take me no more than 10 minutes on my other classes. Well, since Hunters are completely unable to deal with mobs it ended up taking me 5 times as long.
The Point:
Hunters are complete trash at PvE and should pretty much only be used as alternative characters to play trials and iron banner with. Now some of you may say that you manage just well, and have better scores, k/d ratios, etc. to prove it. But that is just you discounting your own skill as a player. Just because you can hold your own with an inferior weapon doesn't mean that you should be using that weapon over a superior one...maybe while playing casual but if I am raiding with someone who is using GG or Nightstalker, I can't help but think that they would be doing even better if they had chosen to play as a Voidwalker or Defender.
And for those of you who haven't touched any other class but Hunters...please do yourself a favour and give a different subclass a whirl, I promise you will enjoy the experience.
And if you decided to switch your main, you won't miss the cool looking cloaks too much.

2 commentaires(/_-) Useless you say? I find hunters can gen the most orbs and can help deal some of the most damage in pve. They belittle all the other classes when it comes to orb gen which is very helpful. (I don't play pvp with my hunter so I don't really have an input)

Hunters are trash
-
Mained hunter since day 1. Still my main today. Got the other 2 classes to max it near max level in y1, hunter still my favorite and best class.
-
2 commentairesAgreed, hunters are pretty garbage at PVE, especially in year one. But the nightstalker subclass has brought them up to par for that, which they needed. They are now orb generating machines. Which is quite helpful. Titan main here, and titans are quite solid in PVE, and take more timing and placement to be used effectively in PVP. Warlocks are mainly a security blanket in PVE, and PVP all warlocks mainly run sunsinger for their OP forebolt grenades haha.

Tried a warlock, hated it Tried a Titan, only good one was bubble Had a hunter, never looked back
-
Meh play what ya want but im a main a hunter for the time being.
-
I tried a Hunter and Warlock in the Beta and didn't enjoy either of them. Day 1 landed and I started as a Titan. I ran it through all of Year 1 and to this day of Year 2. Then I decided to start a second Titan. I admit, I haven't enjoyed playing a second Titan as much as I thought I would. Recently I made a Hunter, I opted to pay $30 to be Level 25 and fully unlock the Nightstalker subclass. I have died 4 times (all in the Devil's Lair because of the Walker) and have a KD of 232 in PvE. I've thoroughly enjoyed playing as a Hunter and will likely start a Warlock to have one of each.

2 commentairesLol. So you suck with a hunter but you say the class sucks. CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE!
-
Just requires a different play style and the right subclass

1 commentaireAre you stupid? Warlocks are trash in pve Hunters are beast Titans are beast

3 commentairesYou're trash

Hunters have nightstalker, more than enough for pve
-
Already tried warlock, hated it, switched to hunter, loved it. Warlocks just don't have the agility I look for in my characters.

Pop blood bound tether drop 1 rocket "blink eyes" see room full of dead bodies...am I missing something or is that not add control?

11 commentairesNow, this is the post of no skill. "Not being able to deal with large groups of mobs"? Well, gunslinger handles that much better than arcblade. Try Keyhole, Combustion, Incendairy grenades, Knife juggler and Chain of Woe. They are perks built for dealing with lots of low tier enemies. Even Arcblade has a few good ones. Showstopper/razor edge can get rid of lots of enemies easily, fast twitch mixed with hungering blade is just tonnes of on demand health, or, you can go stalker and turn invisible, completely negating any need to waste time on killing enemies. Then there's a choice of fleet footed or quickdraw or shadowjack. All very good perks for what else you decide on. Personally, my arcblade is my speed build. But it doesn't stop from occasionally swapping to shadowjack for longer invisibility time or quickdraw so I can just swap to any of my weapons instantly (ever see the last word with quickdraw and single point sling get equipped? It spins like mad). And then there's nightstalker. This class was meant to control crowds and keep them at a comfortable distance. The envenomed smoke just destroys. Any of their grenades, if they're placed well, will destroy any group of enemies. Shadestep for quick evasion and keen scout is always useful at pointing out where enemies will be with much more accuracy than a regular radar. Predator even; if you're getting swarmed by mobs, run away and shoot a predator arrow or 3. They'll just keep getting snagged up and unable to do anything about it. Now, their super was made for dealing with anything. Whether it's supers in the crucible, mobs in PVE or bosses, there's always a reason to use it. Black hole is my personal favourite cause it just grabs everyone and makes them sitting ducks. Same with the other one which shares damage to all tethered enemies and they explode. Then you can double your smoke and grenade time with a few perks or help generate more orbs or get more recovery/armour for your allies. Seriously. You are just not a skilled hunter. No matter the class, there's always a way to deal with enemies. Even if you can't do it with your guns then it's your fault. Cause really, hunters only buff your guns (chain of woe etc. in the gunslinger skill tree)

The void Hunter subclass is devastating to mobs, and at guaranteed 8 orbs every time, my fireteam has constant supers. Nothing beats it IMO, except possibly defender Titans (but that's more about survival than add control).

Horses for courses...
-
Yea bud... Gonna have to agree with you UNTIL they added Nightstalkers They are great for adds. The other two class are pretty much trash on PvE except for invisibility res situations

1 commentaireAll classes are balanced

1 commentaireDefinitely lowest on the pve totem, but still the most fun to play.

4 commentairesHunter here. I don't have time for 3 characters (wife & kids, other games, etc), but I watch videos of people playing Warlocks and Titans in PvE, and most of the time I'm absolutely ASTOUNDED at what I see. And I mean that in a negative way, skills-wise..... They. Just. Stand. There. And. TAKE IT! It absolutely blows my mind! Terrible aggro management, little to no cover used, little to no dodging/avoiding incoming fire, foolish rushing, constantly standing in one place in ADS while just absorbing damage without a care, etc. etc. They play like crap and get away with it because they can. Then people like the OP switch to a Hunter and it's "HOLY CRAP I'M CONSTANTLY IN A STATE OF NEAR DEATH!....OMG I'm 1-shot AGAIN?!.....Why does everything hit so HARD?!" They're spoiled by the Titan's (and Warlock's too, really) tankability, and by the Warlocks completely absurd recovery rate (it's damn near instant, my jaw drops with amazement and envy every time I see it). I have a friend with all 3 classes. He says he has to play his hunter first when doing the weeklies, otherwise he gets too used to tanking and will constantly die on his hunter if he saves it for last. Tl;dr: Hunters have an HP bar roughly equivalent to that of a 10yo anorexic girl, and our armor is made out of paper mache and glitter glue. I'm used to it (I'm a solo player 90% of the time so it's tough), but if I could go back and do it all over I'd go with a Titan or Warlock instead.
but dat CAPE tho...
4 commentairesAll I read was "I couldn't tap the full potential as a hunter, therefore everyone must be in the same boat as me".

Just because you can hold your own with an inferior weapon doesn't mean that you should be using that weapon over a superior one...
You just described playstyle. You say this about hunters, yet you just prove your self wrong in your own experiences. Hunters, titans and warlocks have different play styles. You want to single out a class, yet i can say the same for titans. You can cry and say the bubble is needed for the raid for weapons of light. Up untill oryx, nightstalkers do just as well with letting there team dish out more dps. Striker is worthless and sunbreaker can help out with dps just like nightstalkers. Titans are slow, most of the time people behind them are complete idiots, and they have 1 useful super in pvp. Bubble is worthless now that nightstalkers out. You might get lucky and fist of panic 2 people instead of 1. I do like sunbreaker, but the nerf made it somewhat bad. Lets recap though, this is my opinion and you have yours about hunters. Just because i suck with titan doesnt mean others do, just like how you suck with hunters it doesnt mean others do.

Wow, one of the dumbest post ever on this forum!! Congrats, you reached a new level here...
-
I respectfully disagree. Hunters don't have the best ad clearance but thats what guns are for. And the PvE utilities for hunters aren't really focused on dps. More on avoiding damage (invis, shade step, etc.) They seem less useful now but I'm sure you remember it's uses in CE. It seems that CE was designed for invis.

2 commentairesI main a hunter and wonder how the hell you geared your hunter to have such a hard time in pve.
