It's not new. Once you kill the taken that spawn in that area a tomb husk will spawn. You can take the tomb husk and open the chest where the "taken consumption" covers the floor.

Or you can just use your sword block and open the chest as well.

Or a Titan sunbreaker. Basically anything that gives you extra armor and/or damage resistance
