My roommate and I both have our PS4s linked to one router and we are always able to join each other's fireteam. There is the rare occasion where we cannot join each other but all we do is restart our systems and if the issue persists we power cycle our router. Hope this helps.

I have similar issues. Although we can usually join each other it's never for very long (error codes, disconnects, or destiny crashes). I even have one ps4 port forwarded and the other in dmz. Sadly my GF is getting left behind in destiny because it's so frustrating to try and play together. I can raid with people in canada, Minnesota, atlanta, utah, alaska, and Mexico city all at the same time, but not the person sitting next to me...

From my experience with this is , the main account has to be on both.. You have to play on main system, Other person on other system, Make sure both are set to home system.. It works for me on Xbox one, I don't know about PlayStation, but it's worth trying, good luck.
