I never quite got why they're called adds in the first place.

I dont get it either, personally i call them "mobs". I heard it on one of the first desti y videos i ever watch and stuck with it since.

"Add"-itional enemies? "Add"-versaries? "Add"-vertisements (something to distract you)?

I always assumed it meant "additional enemies". So when your fighting a boss such as oryx the additional enemies spawn. But that's long to say in comparison to adds :3
