Let's face it. When The Taken King drops, there will be no reason to play Year One Raids. Legendaries from the Raids will become obsolete, and everyone will be busy playing The Taken King to earn new Exotics in favor of older Exotics.
But does that mean the content should die away? A majority of the playerbase will probably own The Taken King, so the few who are left without it might not have many others to do the current Raids with.
Also, people would love to replay old content for the nostalgia and for new rewards.
It'd have to be done right though. The new rewards would have to be exclusive to the new difficulty, and they shouldn't really outclass any King's Fall gear as to not take away from that Raid. And they simply can't just buff the enemies to higher levels like they basically did with Crota's End, Hard Mode. New mechanics would have to be introduced, and cheeses would have to be patched.
I'm on the fence about this one. On the one hand, I'd hate to see the best parts of Destiny fade away, especially Vault of Glass. But on the other hand, players want newer content to satisfy their endgame needs.
What do you think? Should Vault of Glass and Crota's End get a "Very Hard" mode?

im gonna speedrun Crota as a level 40, that'll be fun
-
level increase to the existing modes? no. a 3rd mode (very hard for example) with a new set of armor, like they did with iron banner, that i could see happening.
-
Of course they should otherwise we paid for nothing in previous dlc.
-
Well, it would be easier to get the flawless raider achievement if it stayed the same
-
1 commentaireNah. I want to be able to come back and completely -blam!- crota for fun with the new swords that are coming out.
-
Well as it stands year one activities are the only time we can really dust off our year one gear so no thank you

3 commentairesI had an idea to put in a vog sidearm. Xylars wrath

4 commentairesI don't agree. I'll keep playing VoG because it's fun. Not fussed if the weapons are 'useful' it's fun
-
I was thinking they could call the new difficulty "legend" difficultly.
-
1 commentaireRemember, we already know there's at least one quest that is in the VoG (the praedeyth one). I don't think we're done with them just yet...
-
They should be, but they won't be updated, I give ttk until the new games come out in November before it gets as boring as it is now, if that.
-
I haven't done either of the raids really ( I know I know, sorry. Kids and such take up my time) but I wouldn't see the point of updating old raids with gear that's below the upcoming raid gear because that's kindof already the case? What would be the point of making it fresh and updated for everyone when the rewards are still subpar compared to new content? I feel like you answered your own suggestion with what's already in game.
-
I really don't care
-
But they should be the taken version of everything, including taken versions of the bosses
-
-
-
Nah. Otherwise Crota will be able to confidently fight Oryx

In fact, I'd say that 80%-90% of people who play WoW have never run raids lower level then what the level cap was when they started playing. To put it simply, the game is continuing, the old raids are just that, old. Does that mean people won't play them anymore? No, they are still fun, and with the damage capping only a level or two above the enemy level they will still be a bit challenging and lots of fun to players who play them for the first time/several times. Basically, they are past endgame content, they don't need to continue to be endgame content.

So much yes.
-
No let things die bundle babies will still have to run it for grimoire
-
Frankly I don't care. Unless they're going to revamp them to have a more difficult set of enemies, not just higher defense and attack, it's not a big deal if they do nothing to them. In most RPGs there's usually a cap on the level of a dungeon/raid, which is why they come out with new ones and set them at higher difficulties.

4 commentairesDefinitely still plan on playing the old raids I want to be a shepherd for the bundle babies coming with taken king it'll be awesome getting to explain and experience the feeling of people doing that stuff for the first time again

1 commentaireI have a theory on this. Since we are aware that our year 1 legendaries are dead, we are all pissy about what to do with them. It has been advised by bungie that we DO NOT dismantle them. Combine this with the teaser that we can sacrifice weapons to upgrade another one...there must be a tie. Also, total eradication of these current raid weapons mean we no longer have a useful enemy - specific weapon perk....that would be a large step in the wrong direction, especially since a cabal type weapon perk has yet to arrive... Theory: year 1 raid legendaries (specifically) will have a high purpose. No you cannot ascend vision of confluence. But perhaps....you can combine it with a newer scout rifle...giving it oracle damage, and perhaps another one of visions trademark perks. Eh? EH? Not a bad idea.

2 commentairesModifié par Iowamaru : 9/8/2015 2:14:06 AMOf course they should revamp the raids for the new expansion. If not they are letting some really fun content die, and frankly it would be sad to see. The way I see, it its like losing a portion of the game. Without a significant challenge or any worthwhile drops, running Crota's End or Vault of Glass becomes pointless. What reason would any player have for going there? The scenery? The rewards and encounters should be revamped (doesn't need to be anything major) so the content is still at least relevant and worth playing, especially for new players in the series who may not have had a chance to experience it (and no it isn't the same killing level 30ish enemies with gear that far outclasses what was available at the time, so don't even try to argue they can still "experience" the content). If Bungie decides not to update the content it will be a huge loss for the Destiny community.
