Please, Don't Shoot Primary at Atheon
To begin, I have around 50 vault of glass raid completions. I know to some that's low and to others that's insane, but I know the feel for the raid at this point. So when I say don't shoot primary at atheon, DONT SHOOT THE DAMN PRIMARY AT ATHEON! It is so much more efficient to shoot something like a secondary or heavy and save primary for oracles. It doesn't do as much damage, and I think my head will explode if I see another unmaxed up for anything being used to shoot atheon. Even a Murmur is going to do more damage than primary. The point of times vengeance is DPS for 30 seconds, so make the most of it!!! If you run out of secondary or heavy though, then shoot the shit out of atheon with your primary! Try and run out so the game gives you more ammo. But for the love of all that is good and holy please use something than a primary. Also, don't waste a slot with a shotgun unless you plan on shooting oracles with it, had that happen before. For the record, My load out is black hammer, vision of confluence, and gjallarhorn and I never shoot primary at atheon unless I have to (but I tend to hold relic).
Edit: Would anyone be mad if they found someone in their fireteam shooting an unmaxed hard light at hm Templar? Had that happen, we even said "we're going to stop him from teleporting here so use rockets and get as much damage as possible" aaaaaand BOOM, hard light. At first I was upset, then I embraced it and let it happen.
Edit: if you run out of heavy and secondary then of course shoot primary! I actually said that but people must not have caught it. Oh well
Edit: oh so many claim they use super good advice for oracles, but I've never seen anyone do it. People hear others say it and repeat, I've even heard people say it in raids. Did they use super good advice? Nope.

One of my clan mates does use SGA for Oracles. SGA melts Oracles

I shoot 7 Ghorn rockets and then 6 LDR shots shd start shooting my primary instead of wasting time reloading and losing 2-3 seconds of TVengeance Shooting primary (depending on gun) is usually better than reloading during the final 6 seconds

I don't give 2 shites if the raid team chucks stones as long as the job gets done. Are you that big of an elitist to try to force feed your opinions on what each player feels comfortable using? If so then you need to find 5 other people with similar views and only run with them. But good luck finding that many others neck deep in their own arse.

I ran out of ice breaker ammo... you don't want me to shoot primary. Fine. But wait I can't shoot rockets either. Ok. I will just switch to a machine gun. No wait if I do that now I will die. Ok I will do it in a se- now I'm on Mars.... ok, now we are shooting Atheon again... whoops out if icebreaker ammo... I GUESS IM JUST GONNA STAND HERE AND NOT SHOOT ANYTHING AT ALL BECAUSE NO DAMAGE>SOME PRIMARY DAMAGE.

If you can't shoot your primary at atheon and still take down oracles your a stump.

oracles don't count as targets for SGA, so you can spray them without worrying about your ammo. so I get why people say they do that. heck, I wanna try it too. sounds like a blast

All the vog runs we have two with gallys two snipers one running a good lmg. Most times second relic he drops

Anyone else constantly play with people who golden gun or super atheon and than someone tells them it does less damage but they keep doing it anyway......

I've used it in the past, SGA that is, it works great if everyone is sniping. If everyone is shooting rockets though, you really need a rocket to keep up your dps. So, I either run black hammer and SGA, or praetorian foil and gjallarhorn, it depends on the group.
