What’s holding you back from improving in PvP?
What’s keeping you from getting past that threshold?

Positioning and map awareness whilst engaging in a fight. Many times I kill someone but i find myself exposed and weak and die from a few random auto rifle shots from the other side of the map.

Tilting. My mechanics are decent and got an analytical mind, but god help me that goes out the window 1 minute into most 6v6 matches and it's downhill from there. How some folks have achieved the nirvanic state of being they play in I've no idea. I'm a gorilla in a glassware store. 3v3 playlists are fun though. Don't really have issues in there.

4 commentairesSome tips i put together. Hopefully someone can use them. Go into private matches to learn names of map locations (name is on the left side of screen), good for callouts when you play in a team. That can help with map knowledge and then you can also practice jumps and how to travel around the map. Playing in the mornings can be easier than in the evenings. My favorite is weekend mornings. Using meta weapons and a strong offensive super definitely helps. Use what works, use what Bungie gives you that is strong and don't mind what people say about "cheap" weapons. Take what's yours! If you cant find good people in LFG to play with, its probably because their skill level is better than yours (no offense meant), I also run into this issue. I have an approximate 1.2 KD and 1.7 KDA. I try to use solo matchmaking help me find friends. If you play some matches and you like one or two people you played with, send them a "GG" good game, and ask if they would like to party up and play together. Why I think this is a good idea, Bungie matched you up with them, they probably have a similar skill level and are in a similar spot in grinding glory. Use bonus points to your advantage. If you play 3 games a week, you can get a 120 glory bonus. If you play all 12 weeks, that’s 1440 free points. You only need 660 points to get to fabled. Practice in Rumble or QP new weapons and supers Practice in Rumble your one on one skills. If you cant kill one person by yourself, it will be much harder for you to help out your team. Probably common knowledge, If you are the only one with a super, that can be a great time to use yours. No one around to counter you easily with a super of their own. Also you start generating orbs for your team mates so they can get their supers going. Watch Youtube strategy videos from Coolguy, True Vanguard, CammyCakes, Aztecross Gaming. Some of these guys even have their own Discord channels where you can LFG with their fans. I had good success with Coolguys. On console, I use jumper controls. It allows me to punch and jump without having to take my thumb off of the look stick (practice new controls in pve, try doing a jumping punch (or shotgun) on someone's head). I also use an Elite controller, it allows me to put a button on the bottom of the controller so I can crouch or slide without taking my thumbs off the sticks. I recently started putting a button under the controller for the action button so I can shoot while I revive or disactivate a bomb and not be a sitting duck. The elite controller allows me to play other games and make the button layout identical to destiny so my buttons don't get mixed up in my head.

For me, it's nothing that other players are doing. My biggest problem is that I don't spend enough time in PVP to improve.

Nothing skill related. I have my fair share of 17.0 efficiency games every now & then. I avoid crucible because of Bungie's poor, archaic infrastructure that punishes YOU, THE PLAYER when it fails. That combined with the lax-to-nonexistent repercussions faced by nefarious users. I'd cheat too if less than 1% of cheaters get a ban once every 6 months, who can just make a new account in 5 minutes.

Not sure of your age, but if you are between the ages of 20 and 35 then get your dad and see if you can make him a top tier Crucible player. That will likely answer your question on what is holding me back as I'm likely as old or older than your dad with similar life balance constraints.

Short answer for literally everybody who's given a reason: Attitude. Simple as that. If people wanna get better, they will. If they don't, they'll find any excuse not to and blame it on external factors. "Waaah sweats" "Waaah hardlight" "Waaah its been hard at work so I ate cake and got fat" "Waaah im stressed so I can't quit smoking" "Waaah its not my fault" Video games, work, life, whatever. Its their attitude. Those that down vote are probably crying into their cake right now while getting mown down by hardligh then going out for a smoke cuz the game has stressed them.

6 commentairesSimple, f**king shotguns. No matter how I try to deal with them it never works, I try sitting back and laneing them with scouts or pulses, or trying to kill them with sidearms before they kill me and nothing works. Every single game I play in computer has at least 2 shotguns and it’s impossible to counter them when the maps are super close quarters and I want to snipe but can’t due to poor map design and poor balancing.

The thing that holds me back is for some reason i always have the worst luck in lobbies, i mean 5-6 games of a stacked team(not in a fireteam) just seems they put all the good players on one team and i get my ass pushed in, then ill have one round where it goes my way. I don’t know how they do their lobbies, but they need to find a way to make solo q more even in the luck game, some sort of ranking system for qp to make the players get divided more evenly

No dedicated servers and their P2P hybrid matchmaking system holds them back...and the fact they just dont care any longer.

There are other games that do PVP better, period. I was a longtime COD player and placed it aside when destiny 1 first arrived. I like action/sci-fi oriented stuff and was curious. Loved the game and had a fun time playing pvp. As time went on it was clear that allowing certain things to occur in pvp that were obviously meant for pve became the biggest mistake. I don't care about my own performance anymore and the zest to win is gone. The constant game of nerf that goes on because they can't simply remove certain game mechanics is old. Any tournament style pvp, IB or trials, should have stock pre-determined loadouts. Make it a game of skill. Not who has the broken weapon or exotic that has become meta. A basic rotating daily loadout.

2 commentairesTime really. I can only handle a few matches of PvP at a time before I have to switch to something else. I think I do quite well in PvP. Most matches I go positive. When I go negative it's usually because I'm doing a quest, bounties, or working on a catalyst. Plus I don't have any friends on here anymore so I do the solo route.

With a forum often littered with less then helpful people on here it's good to see someone trying to help instead of telling people to "get good".

I am more than willing to participate with players my skill level I am not willing to play cannon fodder I am absolutely ok with not playing pvp if I can’t relax with my skill group High skilled play styles annoy me (not my thing) I could improve and I did in the past but I am not willing to sink a massive amount of time into a rather boring game mode just to get two more pinnacle weapons I perfectly can live without (NF and LH) the rest I just have no desire to get (apart from MT and recluse which was boring enough, same as loaded question or wendigo -.-) Sbmm that puts me with my peer ? Great I am cool with that . CBMM that matches me with top MGL players ? No thanks . Mixed matches with either top MGL players on the opposing team (annoying).. or worse in my own team ( extremely annoying since they wreck the entire game flow) then I am fine by not playing I also don’t want to min max my gear for that 0,1 second faster reload time and a bit more damage resistance .. I would be ok with a normalized weapon andcgear pool where everyone has the same stats ^^ =)

Mainly Not caring enough about it.... burnt myself out playing thousands of hours of overwatch comp and with no meaningful rewards what’s the point, I do have fun at times but mainly with troll loadouts.... the other problem matching people thousands of miles away making games essentially rng...
