You missed the bit where the entire studio is working on the new non destiny game that's dropping in 2024. That's bungies next release, NOT D3. There's several pointers and comments saying this, even small things like crucible is a long term vision, or gambit will lose a mode but not this year, maybe not even next, or the whiteboard showing a 7year plan for D2, or playstation releasing new light as a brand new game and the store saying game size updated every October (they get the info from the Dev). D2 is here for a good few years yet, it's a money vehicle to see them to their next game in 2024, basic business model. Also player numbers are very solid so this seasonal model works better than anything they've done before, so it's also not going anywhere.

The infos out there , go find it. Already confirnrd by CEO Pete parsons that the 2024 triple A non destiny game is for 'life after destiny for bungie'. Matter is a new launcher. Most Devs on twitter have changed their bios from working on destiny to working on super secret stuff'. Bungie have been advertising for jobs for a while now super secret non destiny stuff. Even Devs on twitter before Xmas where posting job listings for 'destiny 2 and non destiny secret stuff' jobs. The 100m netease investment is a deal to get an Asian marketing licence to sell this new game in Asia, that's what netease do, blizzard use them for the same thing. Several employees have said D3 isn't on the table yet, the whiteboard roadmap showed a 7yr D2 plan ending in 2024 (when the new games ready). Also basic math and business. Took them 7 years to build D1, took them 3 years to build D2 using lots of old D1 content that was already built. This was with 1000 staff, a publisher, and 2 extra studios. Now they've 40% less staff (620), no publisher, no 2 extra studios, are building a different triple A title from scratch (started it in 2014), also managing publishing in 53 diff countries, and supporting destiny 2 content as well. And you think in amongst all that they'll produce a brand new D3? I've seen people say they expect a D3 this year. You people are deluded.
