No, they're playing the numbers game, get as many people in as possible, increase the chance of selling eververse stuff. You'll prob find season pass players don't spend in eververse, the true casuals are the guys who just log on for an hour or 2 every weekend and say hey this armour looks cool, n spends £15 on it. I read an article on digital add on numbers recently. Mobile games dominate, the top 1 made 1.6 billion and it's a free game. The mobile cod game made 1.1 billion in sales, again a free game. Console games only bring in 15% of the overall microtransaction market and those are dominated by free to play games from players who don't buy games but buy things to look nice. This is Bungies attempt at this, right or wrong, it's clearly what they're doing, at least for now. Time will tell how many free players stay around (pc is still top platform so I'd assume most are still playing), and importantly how much they spend. If they make more doing this, than previous models, it's here to stay. Logged into my mates acc last week to do something for him, he's a new player and I got thorn for him. Guy hasn't spent a penny on the game, or season pass, or dlcs, yet I found he'd bought the full titan dawning set, numerous emotes, and other bits n bobs, I reckon he'd spent around £50. People are just casual, and don't care or even know the damage they're doing and why would they?
